Still, FWLIW, when NM mandated that all volunteer fire service members had to pass training in resuscitation, I was one. Our trainer, an ambulance driver, put us through the required evolutions, all the while maintaining a cautionary line of patter about how easy it was to do it wrong and such. Eventually during a q and a opportunity I simply asked-- "does this stuff actually ever work? Have you done it?" He considered it carefully and said "Five times; saved two, lost three, and all of them sued me!"
I was visiting the Rijksmuseum the other day (virtually) and I came upon that painting (virtually). There's a couple screwing and a dude pissing and a guy playing hockey. It felt like a scene out of Slap Shot.
Reminds me of the old joke, what do you do if you're walking through the jungle and you come upon a lion? Carefully wipe it off.
Are you like Rickey quoting Rickey? I see the cloggers have one NHLer in the minors. Guess it never took off.
It takes a few weeks for your body to develop antibodies against a new antigen, so it's too late for people who are already sick. Plus the body of anyone who is already infected is already frantically trying to make antibodies against it.
Pfff, we're ready for it https://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/ywz99v/the-legend-of-the-fighting-dutchmen
I get that, but trials aren't the same as a vaccine (obviously). It is simply part of the process. While I hope a "miracle cure" shows up, I dont expect it to happen in 2020. Nor do any of my friends in medicine. The problem with being wrong on vaccinations is that you then end up actually infecting healthy people. So this process isn't going to be rushed beyond certain timeframes.
For those of us whose lifestyle is controlled by brokerage accounts eked out by social security, that word "slightly" is a godsend...
I don't speak New Mexican, but I think he is saying as a pensioner he is relieved that the market hasn't retraced its losses and seems to have settled down this week.
What, you mean you don't actually know everything about the US? You're just faking it? I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked!
I saw a gif of the unemployment numbers of the States. Man, that looked insane. You caan't get re elected with that.
Q: "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?" A: "I can't leave my house, capitalism has utterly collapsed, there's rebels roaming the outback who will kill me for my petrol, and someone put perfume on my boots."
Unemployment rate was around 5.5% in 2004 if I am right. He would have had ZERO chance of re-election if he were eligible to run again in 2008. Zero. Which is what makes the cultish devotion to Trump so remarkable, in 2020.
Yes, it is. It is difficult to escape the conclusion that Trump is more popular than Bush was among Republicans because he is angrier, nastier, and more divisive. In fact, that is almost certainly the case.
When you look at how Republicans treated his father, George HW Bush, you can see that is definitely the case. The more dismissive you are towards "others" (and yes, I know HW was not perfect) and the support of Republicans are in direct correlation.
W believed that Others were the enemy too. Trump just broadened the definition of Others to include Democrats.
