"They are in the market for a striker" Sky Sports News reporter James Cooper has the latest on Manchester United's #DeadlineDay hopes More January transfer news: https://t.co/aE6AiOG5Sf pic.twitter.com/K4DpFYwh2x— Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) January 30, 2020
Embarrassing for a club of our stature to only have Martial, injured Rash and youth Greenwood as strikers. I can guarantee that any striker they find this late in Jan will not meet fans expectations, but we are down to scrabbling for warm bodies now. Only hope is that firstly they find someone who can deliver at least something and secondly it doesn't put too big a hole in the miserly summer transfer fund which will inevitably shrink to accomodate.
Considering the lateness of the hour and the (very) limited choices available to us, I would be satisfied enough with Rondon on loan for the rest of the season. He is proven in the Prem, his holdup play is actually top notch and it's easy to see Martial or Greenwood linking and playing off him pretty well. Hard worker too at the service of the team he plays for, who can be a real nuisance to opposing defenses.
Atletico Madrid have ended their interest in a January deal for PSG striker Edinson Cavani. #muzone [Sky]— United Zone (@ManUnitedZone_) January 30, 2020 Curious as to why: not fit/too many injuries recently, too expensive?
According to Laurie Whitwell (The Athletic) the reports of Rondon being a target for United are incorrect. The club are exploring options but he's not one of them.
I've always been a fan of his. Whether or not he's the right player for us at this time. Maybe CQ can give us the plug on Sardar Azmoun
I was never that big on Rondon until the season he spent on loan at Newcastle. He's not a top, top guy of course but he was a solid, effective 9 that year. He made Perez look great and they worked really well together. Recorded 11 goals and had 7 assists in the league alone and he won the Newcastle Player of the Year as well. If we ended up with the same type of committed and hardworking player upfront for the rest of the season, I'd be very happy personally.
It’s gonna be too late to get a striker in this window unless one literally falls into our lap. Ole clearly wants a very particular type of striker and so just getting a body in wont do. Cavani isnt realistic, his wages would make him just another Sanchez type deal. Rondon might be the right type but isnt good enough. I don’t really rate Giroud but on a 6 month loan would be fine just to get us through until summer. Funny thing about this window is that while its taken way too long to do everything and has been a mess, if we would have actually landed Haaland early in the window when it was down to us and Dortmund, we could be looking at a winter of Bruno and Haaland which would’ve been excellent business. As is stands, we pretty much just did the minimum.
Could Willian José move to #THFC or #MUFC?@SkyKaveh has the latest! 📱Watch The Transfer Show live with our stream here: https://t.co/OefGZZjqCj pic.twitter.com/EiY3aLBXOR— Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) January 30, 2020 Looks like we're being used to press Spurs on but with our needs maybe we could make a move. Don't know the guy, can't gauge whether he'd be a good acquisition.
Talk about United having made a substantial offer for Josh King, but it was met with a firm no from Bournemouth.
whose definition of substantial are we going with here? Because United's definition is not exactly congruent with everybody else's. By the way, I'll take Josh King
Paco Alcácer is still out there and will need mins if he has hopes any for Euro 2020. whether we spend again is another story and if and how it affects the summer pool
Alcacer is a Villareal player now... With Dortmund somehow managing to make a profit on him, having sold him for around €23mil after paying Barca 20.
I would too, though I've not seen much of him this season. Depends on the money involved and I'd be happier if our team was already fluent in attack, but if no bigger names are available/interested then I'd far sooner pick him up on the cheap than Richarlison for £85m. He's a decent stopgap without actually clogging up our squad development and he fits how we want to play better than most. We really should have signed Haller in the summer though. West Ham are making him look shit right now, but if he was available this summer I'd save him from that particular hell and make him share ours.
United weighing up the possibility of a 2nd bid for King. https://www.skysports.com/football/...could-make-second-bid-for-bournemouth-striker Not confirmed, but the rumor is that United's first bid was in the region of £25-30mil... Would be fine with him on loan, but the concern obviously is whether that sum would be deducted from our transfer kitty (which might not be all that substantial to begin with).
In his press conference today, Ole has suggested that we won't be seeing anyone coming today. Could be telling the truth, but it's pretty clear also that when it comes to transfers he does tend to keep it close to the chest. Been said previously though, if we stay as is we better hope that we manage to remain healthy upfront. But bottom line, we're desperately short in attack the rest of the way, even if Fernandes should be of some help to our forwards in terms of providing service.
