You get better news coverage after a pit-stop to the toilet than you do from the Daily Oklahoman. Good heavens. Be thankful, ever so thankful that you have the DMN. There's nothing like having a paper that several years ago the Columbia School of Journalsim ranked as the worst paper in the country. The only thing they seem to put any effort into is the sports page and even that pales in comparison with the DMN.
3x0=0 Only sports page I have found living and traveling this country better than DMN is the Boston Globe. Baseball writer: Peter Gammons Hoops writer: Jackie MucMullan Football writer: Sean McDonough (or is it Will) and the clincher Soccer writer: Frank DeAlpa.
The DMN still has more content than just about any other sports page in America, but the quality of the content has suffered over the last five years. Great reporters like Phil Rogers, Ed Werder, Ivan Maisel, Terry Frei, Marc Stein, Randy Galloway, etc. have not been properly replaced. Until the DMN makes a commitment to keeping the talent they develop it will continue to be a problem as the paper is little more than AAA for national publications.
The Globe is great for baseball. Im sure that is due to the fact that Boston is a baseball crazy market. I would guess they might say the DMN is great when it comes to football (pointyball).
And because the Ranger hater of all times Pete Gammons that blow hard is on ESPN all the effing time. Spewing HSO's about the superiority of NE USA and then we have to contend w/ the other blabbler mouth RYAN on Sports Reporters on Sundays. That's why the appeal.
