Re: Will the match official of the Chelsea......

Then the referee should have blown when the first contact occurred. He didn't. He allowed play to continue and only after the rugby tackle inside the box did he blow. Awful bit of refereeing.

No conspiracy, but simply an awful ref who made terrible mistakes in both directions. Three and possibly four cast iron Chelsea penalties missed and a red card against Barcelona for a non-foul: just astounding to see so many big decisions screwed up at this level. I hope Platini has the bottle to make sure that ref gets canned from the UEFA list. I'm not holding my breath though as I suspect he will be too busy gleefully throwing the book at Chelsea for their (and in particular Drogba's) disgraceful conduct at the end of the game.

I hope he involved in eliminating Chelsea from the CL next season again. Every team gets bad calls but no teams go crazy like that. Honestly put one of those chances away and it's 2-1 and nobody would be talking about the ref.

chelsea getting being eliminated from next year would be stupid , drogba's comments .. well they were correct, ref deserves to be fired. it is what it is, and simply no matter what punishment, chelsea got robbed/hussled by the ref

You have to be kidding me right?

Do you have any idea how many times I've witnessed referees being surrounded by players or checking with their assistants?

In those situations takes more than 30 seconds, I can assure you that.

No, the rule is quite clear.
The continuous agressive approach of the player must be marked when it first started.

I do believe Piqué's handball is deserving of a penalty though.

That might be a fair point had there been a "continuous aggressive approach". There wasn't. There was holding earlier that was brushed off. Play then proceeded and Malouda was wrestled to the ground. The referee then awards a freekick right on the edge of the area adjacent to where the foul occurred in the box, _not_ where the contact initially occurred. Additionally, FIFA's discussion of foul play includes the following:

It's interesting to see what money does to people.

Sometimes they hail it as a God.

And boast: 'CL, that's where the money's at!'

In the next second though it becomes Devil, specially when one's team loses.

And cry: 'Barça euros bought the referee'.

All they forget though that (I don't know if those numbers are exact, but if they are I don't see much reason for Chelsea fans to be crying):

Who had more shots? Barca. (35 to 16) Who had more shots on goal? Barca (7 to 5). Who had more possession? Barca (65% to 35%). Who had more corners? Barca (16 to 8). Which team played with less players for 30 mins? Barca. Which team missed key players, but still won it? Barca. So I DON'T KNOW ON EARTH WHY THE HELL CHELSEA SHOULD BE IN THE FINAL . IF CHELSEA HAD GONE, IT WOULD A BE BLACK DAY FOR SOCCER, COX WE NEED TO SEE STAR STUDDED ATTACKING SIDE WHO CAN PLAY ENTERTAINING SOCCER (NOT BORING LIKE EPL TEAMS PLAY) LIKE BARCELONA TO BE IN THE FINAL.

How can the article say that Barcelona were outplayed? Both goals were scored from outside the penalty area. With no defenders Barcelona still controlled possesion with 10 men. Barcelona has a problem when they play against a negative team.

Why not just concede that football can be a very, very cruel game?;)...

Who is talking about fixing? I only heard a few of Chelsea fans saying that. I'm not one of them. All I'm saying is that the ref was beyond shit and made more terrible calls in one game than I've EVER seen in one game.

He was predominantly bad for Chelsea. The red card is secondary to the countless penalties that Chelsea should have had.

    Was it the same officials?

Well, at least Mourinho wasn't managing this game, he would make another ref retire. Everyone gets calls that help them advance. That's part of the game, your fate is in the hands of the ref to a great extent. There is no conspiracy. Abramovic has way more money than anyone else (even after the economic belly flop), so no one is pulling a fast one on him.

    You got me.

    Never knew that rule existed.

I'm confused though...what's the point in creating 2 separate and yet similar fouls?

youre a joke. chelsea played smart and tactical at nou camp. better then anyone else could have done there. they knwe they werent going to out power barca away, so they waited for barca to make mistakes and then countered unfortunately not being able to capitalize. chelsea took it to barca hard at home. barca was out played in every aspect but possession. yes chelsea had their chances but how many of those chances were stopped short by possible fouls that werent called? barca are lucky to go through. the DESERVING TEAM LOST. and you cant refute that.

You didn't read what I wrote. What I'm saying is that "the rugby tackle" you refer to started outside the box. Alves' feet were inside but his arm stretched outside and pulled Malouda across the line where they fell down.

Only the Pique handball was probably a penalty. And even that is debatable as to whether it was intentional. Everything else was nothing more than a shout, IMO. Chelsea forwards need to learn to stay on their feet.

C'mon the performance at Camp Nou was a disgrace for any elite club - and they should have been 10 men and a peno against.

I am amazed that a midfield of Ballack, Lampard and Essien cannot retain the ball for more than 5 seconds

Malouda's left foot is clearly inside the area and from that angle it looks like most of his body is as well. There was clearly contact inside the area from every angle you can view it.

Barça deserved to win for what they did in both matches. Only Pique's hand could be called a handball.

Besides, a few years back, when Chealsea won 4-2 in Stamford Bridge, on the last goal Carvalho was holding on to Valdes and that's why Chelsea went through.

Barça is the favorite to win the treble this season.

What did they do in the second leg other than overhit a load of crosses and not create anything until injury time?

It doesn't matter whether it was injury time or not. Barca had created no less than Chelsea - a goal apiece.

    Agreed,

As Mr Spock would say it is 'illogical' to place emphasis on the lateness of the goal.

    Lot of excuses here,

Chelsea had the chances to win and didnt take em. Thats what happens when you try to defend a 1 goal lead, whilst having a man advantage.

Essien messed up the clearance, and the ball fell to messi who squared it for iniesta.

Drogba ********ed up 3-4 1 on 1 chances with Valdes and missed them all.

Chelsea had the opportunity to kill the game and didnt do it.

It is not Drogba's place to comment on the referee. He should have dragged his angry ass to the showers and kept his mouth shut.

The timing of the goal has little to do with things, the fact is that for 90 minutes they did not create a single clear cut chance whereas Chelsea had several. Yes, Chelsea should have converted at least one more but Barcelona's overall game did not merit a result last night.
The best team does not always win - Barcelona deserved to win the first leg, Chelsea the second. Neither won a game, Barcelona won the tie.

Just as there was plenty of complaining from the Barcelona camp after the first leg. When teams fail to win it is natural to normally look for excuses. Chelsea have every right to feel agrieved after the game, but it doesn't change the result.

I take it you missed the 6 or 7 players surrounding the ref after the Abidal red card? Sure, the Droghba incident was of greater severity but if it's not Droghba's place then it's also not Barcelona's.
