Yeah, I'm glad some of the guys are getting minutes. Goretzka, Meyer, and Clemens need time on the field. It was also cool to see Asamoah come one for a minute.

Nice W3-1. Nice to see Meyer get a goal. I thought Hoger looked good offensively at RB.

That is far more exciting opponent than usual for the first round. Of course it is also more difficult.

    Bit of hindsight editing ;)

I found this really good post from the Schalker-Fan-Club Verband - it's in German, so I had to google translate it, which is why it looks, in English, like the grammatical work of a 2 year old ;):

    Dear CLEMENS TÖNNIES,

who, like you, as a season goal direct qualification of FC Schalke 04 Champions League exclaims (ie at least 3rd place), who was the team finally personnel as REINFORCE that one meets this requirement.

With the Force, the DFB Cup match of the third division Dynamo Dresden period of 90 minutes to be shown to, which showed no heart, no passion, no wit, which delivered a grotten-poor, partly desolate idea, lots of vulnerabilities disclosed and us Germany has much disgraced to the bone, we are KING BLUE play no role in this season.

And another thing: if at a club after two seasons no handwriting and playing philosophy of the coach is still recognizable, then JENS KELLER is demonstrably and unequivocally the wrong man. There is nothing nice to talk to. Especially in view of numerous permanent injuries again the legitimate question must be asked whether in our ON SCHALKE is trained wrong.

The same is true for managers HORST HELDT that is simply not in a position to young, talented and inexpensive players (fe. Kruse, Hahn, etc.) for the FC SCHALKE to undertake 04. We do not need Heldt'schen purchasing errors as Obasi or Szalai, for the Heldt pointless million has burned and have our club brought nothing. And its tactics, mainly to rely on commitments to have free transfer, will not lead us certainly in the Champions League. Since it takes players distinctly different format. And now cost money once.

The fact is that a week before the start of the Bundesliga season 2014/2015 true playfully at our FC Schalke 04 at all. And that's an indictment of coach Jens Keller, manager Horst Heldt and also for you, CLEMENS TÖNNIES.

In this respect you should quickly take money in hand and act (the transfer list closes on 31 August) or be fewer the MAULHELDEN and in the formulation of standards and objectives bake significantly smaller rolls.

Luck on my FC Schalke 04! And congratulations to absolutely deserved victory to Dresden

    Original:

Heldt needs to go. He is horrible at identifying talent and consistently ignores our defensive issues, mainly at CB and RB.

No, it wasn't. Kellers tactics never change. Never. It doesn't matter who our opponent is. Real Madrid, Bayern, Dresden...same tactics. It's the most illogical thing I've ever seen.

Let's go back a few hours before the game. We're about to play a team that will likely bunker and counter attack most of the game. We should play our most agile, ball-playing center backs. We're not going to be defending crosses, we're going to be defending quick counter attacks. Santana is the worst possible CB candidate on the entire roster when it comes to defending quick counter attacks. Hoewedes should have started. If not him, it should have been Ayhan. Finally, you need to tell your back 6 to move the ball faster. The passing was too slow for this type of game. You need to make the other team run and chase the ball. Tire them out, counter attack when you have a chance, switch the field, move the ball.

Hopefully something good comes out of this. At the bare minimum, I hope Keller swallows some hard truths about some of his players and their abilities. Beyond that, maybe we get lucky and the club actually makes some changes in management before things get out of hand.

HT 3-0. and Di Santo fluffed a penalty (seriously, along the ground or top corners ..why kick the ball at arms height..), however everything is going better than expected

Duisburg lost there captain who brought di santo down in the box, which gave him aforesaid penalty.

Geis with a decent game. He's no Junuzovic but seems fairly talented. Someone needs to tell Neustadter to get a haircut though. :whistling:
