Trinidadian international Devorn Jorsling has joined Orlando City. In 27 caps for T&T, he's scored 14 goals including 11 goals in his last 13 international matches.

Yes, his name is spelled right. For some reason, he is regularly referred to as "Devon", so Google will likely correct it in a search.

Jorsling also has 74 regular-season goals in the TT Pro League. He's spent the past 8 seasons with Defence Force, and actually was far and away in the lead for the Golden Boot prior to his signing with City with 13 goals this year.

His most recent international activity was in the Caribbean Championship this past November. He scored five goals, including a hat trick against St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Looking at Pro League reaction, they are actually comparing his move to City unfavorably with recent moves of players from Jamaica to MLS. What's interesting is, they leaked the move last month (December 27), calling us "Orlando City Austin Aztex" and USL Pro the "A League".

Defence Force clinched the Pro League title last night in a 2-0 win over Caledonia AIA. Jorsling added his 74th career goal at 77'.

He could actually be making more money in Orlando than in an MLS team. Most MLS reserve or bench players are making $30-40-50k. It could've been a financial consideration or maybe he sees Orlando as a stepping stone to MLS.

It's great to see us signing a player who can score goals. Still looking to see who else we sign because the team looks to be not that big yet..

I believe league minimum in MLS after the latest CBA is $40,000

According to his presser, he sees it as a stepping stone to Europe. While many on the TT league pages scoff at that, our connections to Stoke and Burnley at least make that idea plausible.

Yeah, I could see someone guaranteeing him at least some training time with Stoke or Burnley as a little enticement. It wouldn't be a horrible things to be a little bit of a farm team... it would guarantee a string of up and coming players perhaps...

I guess it would hurt less if they just didn't mention it in their interviews. Makes it sound like Orlando is just the rebound girl.
