    So, it's preseason, but I don't care.

I'd have no problem with getting him to commit and capping him with the senior team. If he's scoring goals for their first team in preseason vs. legitimate competition, then he doesn't need to go through our youth system.

I have a suspicion if we could get Shawn's commitment, then we'd also get Devante's. The good thing is I don't think Shawn is good enough for the full German team anytime soon so that's beneficial to us.

    Christ. What a hit son.

Parker could technically get another call-up to the under 21 side who are qualifying for next year's European championship. Still a long, long road to that senior team though. I wouldn't be surprised if he chose to throw in his lot with the US given the opportunity to play senior international football.

That Pflücke kid is too small to be another Schürrle.

But he can certainly move with the ball ... closer to a Thomas Häßler type though.

Pflücke isn't a player like Schürrle anyway, he's more like a Götze-type of player. Schürrle is just a metaphor for "next great player to be developed by Mainz' Academy".

@bshredder you need to interview this kid ASAP to see if he'd be interested to play for the US...same with Kauter

This says its a capsular ligament injury to the outer ankle, but then says (I think) "however he traveled with the squad to Birmingham"

"Wie der FSV weiter mitteilte, zog sich der ebenfalls ausgewechselte Devante Parker eine Kapselbandverletzung des äußeren Sprunggelenkes zu. Der 18 Jahre alte Mittelfeldspieler reiste allerdings ebenso wie Bungert mit ins Trainingslager nach Birmingham."

vs. Granada this says Mainz played very well after first half (when he was subbed in), and

"dann zog Parker nur Zentimeter am Pfosten vorbei – die Flanke aus vollem Lauf kam von Nedelev (74. Minute)."

translation: he had a shot that just missed the post by inches.

He was also subbed in with Duricic who is a promising midfielder for Mainz.

It'll get bumped to YA when he makes his debut. He was playing with the U19s six days ago.
