Well we lost today 1-2. But I think we still go onto the next round. I hope we get some of our "star" players back for the next round, or we won't be advancing.

A win is a win, but I would have liked to see us win by a little more. This second leg will be scary.

What do you think about Julian de Guzman?
Do you feel he has a chance of making the first team?

While I still haven't heard much about him. I do know the new coach doesn't like him or trust him. So he might be on his way out before he even plays a liga match, although if injuries things can change. Doesn't look like he made a good decision coming to Depor though.

Oh, that doesn't sound too good for him.
So did the new coach said this in a paper or tv or is it just the impression everyone gets?

DeGuzman had a pretty bad year in hannover last year but I think he has a lot of potential and deserves a chance.
Furthermore he's just a classy person and it would make me kinda sad not to see him do well.

Oh well, just wait and see I guess.
Keep me updated on news about him please! :)

I believe it's the impression people who are close to the situation have got and maybe something Caparros has said.

And I'll try and keep you updated on his situation, he did play in today's Intertoto match (as a sub).

I just read that De Guzman has made the squad. Not sure how much he will be playing, but he will be on the roster from now on.

Wow, that was quite the lineup we used there. Looks like we didn't want to risk any of the big guns for Wednesday's match against Newcastle.

Isn't that just sad? I thought the Riazor held like 30K +? What gives with the low attendance? I mean they are in the Intertoto Cup Finals and looking good. Scratchin my head...

Same here. I think the Riazor can hold about 37,000. All I know is that I'd be there supporting the team if I could.

It's also vacation time in Europe and most people are busy hanging out at some exotic beach. I'm not overly surprised by the low attendance, especially when you consider that until recently Deportivo fans were spoiled with CL semifinal action. InterToto is small change by comparison.

Good point about being spoiled, but I just thought that Depor was more popular and had a larger more loyal group of supporters.

I wish that were true, but I think the only matches that sold out (or came close) last season was Madrid and Barca. Everything else was a disappointment. I don't think our Champions League matches even had a full crowd at la Riazor. As Randy pointed out, Depor supporter are used to big matches and these little one hardly peak their interest. Also I don't know how much is being charged for tickets, they might be really expensive thus deterring a lot of supporters.

I'm shocked. I thought that Depor had some of the most loyally insane supporters in all of Europe, guess not.

This is vacation time in Spain and many people in Galicia go to the beach and do other things during the summer, you have to understand that during the summer the sun does not set in Galicia until after 10:30 and many people who are working go to the beach after work also many of the small towns of Galicia have their summer fiestas during the summer. Many people enjoy the summer as they prpepare for those long rainy winters.

Sounds like Minnesota (for the very late sunset) or Seattle (long rainy winters). Am I close in my description?

    Catfish,

yeah the winters are long and rainy. I make comparisons to when you see pictures of the country side of Ireland,
not exactly that but closer I posted some links for you where you asked about pictures
