I think between her color and her politics, she would be a strange choice. I could see Biden picking a relatively conservative woman of color (Harris), or a lefty white woman (Warren), but Kobluchar doesn't ding either bell.

 

One of those cops she didn't go after as state AG was Derek Chauvin. Screw the VP spot, she is lucky she isn't up for reelection this year.

I think we should have naturalized citizens officially be eligible for the Presidency, even though that would allow people like Rupert Murdoch and Arnold Schwarzenegger to run. The idea that a nation like the United States having "natural-born" citizens never sat well with me.

A country with our, shall we say, sketchy history of voting rights shouldn't be discriminating based on birthplace anyway.

 

But then how do you keep Alexander Hamilton from running for president?

Well, be fair, only 4 of the past 10 Illinois governors have gone to jail (and none of the past 2!!!):
Otto Kerner (1961-1968)
Dan Walker (1973-1977)
George Ryan (1999-2003)
Rod Blagojevich (2003-2009)

Of course, Jim Thompson (1977-1991) escaped going to jail in the scheme that sent much of his administration to the slammer.

Jim Edger (1991-1999) was squeaky clean.
Pat Quinn (2009-2015) was squeaky clean.
Bruce Rauner (2015-2019) was just negligent about the job.
