Well, it is Decision Day in MLS. Of course, the playoff decision ended for the Fire last week. Really, it was the 2-1 loss to New England at the end of the August really separated the two. It was also the last time the Fire lost at all. Draws against Cincinnati and Toronto really did not help. The decision for the Fire is if both Rodriguez AND Paunovic are "relieved of their duties" or only Paunovic, with Rodriguez managing to slime his way into another season. Both these asshats must go. What a great event in could be on Tuesday if there is not only the "official" announcement going back to Soldier Field, but also a new front office/coaching team. Announce: Bastian has retired and taken the Front Office position. Arne as head coach. Magee in some role, maybe assistant coach. Pardo as the other assistant coach. Thornton as goalkeeping coach. Come on, Joe, make it happen. (I know, take that shit to the Delusion Thread)
We know that there are four possibilities this off-season: 1. Both Nelson and Pauno are fired 2. Both Nelson and Pauno stay 3. Nelson is fired and Pauno stays 4. Pauno is fired and Nelson stays The fans want Outcome #1, but public statements from Mansueto seem to suggest Outcome #2. From my own sources, I have one person saying that Outcome #3 is most likely, although Pauno could still be fired by the new GM. This guy has been right about all of this front office stuff, so it's trusted. I also heard from within the club itself on my own that Outcome #4 is most likely due to how integrated Nelson is with the club's plans for next season. So... I have no clue what's going on anymore.
I hear you, but options 2 and 4 would be really bad, and 3 just as much if the new GM didn't immediately replace Pawno. They have a body of work and it's absolutely terrible. Mansueto has had over a year to perform any recruiting and vetting needed for these positions. There's really no excuse or explanation for keeping either of them around for one more second. Every second they do stay will be a blow to any optimism I have about the club's future.
1. They are "soul mates" so they need to stay together. 2. Trust the Process I guess those would go towards excuses, not explanations.
Nikolic on the bench. They just showed him hugging McCarty, Kronholm and others, almost like saying goodbye.
1-0 Orlando. Ball bounces off the goal post, and then off of Kronholm's leg. Something Stupid happened. Man, they like purple down in Orlando.
Beautiful fall day, windows open, chili in the slow cooker, I have NFL Sunday Ticket, and my absolute dumbass watching this ********ing team suck shit on the final day of the season in a game that literally does not matter. I hate myself.
This season is so worthless that I'm watching I'm not even really caring so much about the results as I am trying not to get irrationally mad that what is normally a nice primary kit vs. primary kit matchup is ruined by the Fire wearing the boring all white strips.
Frankowski scores a ridiculous, dare I stay "something stupid," back heeled goal. Fire up 4-1, 3 goals in 6 minutes.
Frankowski scores another ridiculous goal. He shots, the ball flies up off of the goalkeeper and Frankowski heads it into the net. This is a record for "something stupid" happening.
Wait, your wife is NOT an "older Chinese lady ...who claims to be a fortune teller"? Weirdest of all!
37 shots, 19 shots on goal. Danhole: "Does this game show the potential of this team?" Um, the season is over, asshole.
