All stems from a counterattack where Columbus pass their way out of Atlanta's press, ending with a long cross that sends Zardes down the left from midfield with only Robinson to beat. ie: the level of finishing that Atlanta doesn't have.
Now if that was a PK then I fail to see how they didn't give the one committed against Moreno in the 1st.
Watching this game against one of the best teams in the league just confirms that we're only a piece or two -- and a coach -- away from being Cup contenders again.
Fresh legs, I guess. Damm hasn't been at his best today so I'm not overly critical of the move. Especially since Lennon can cross to Jahn just as ably.
87' Barco gives the ball away cheaply in attack then hacks a Crew player to earn a yellow. Just leave, already.
Damm hasn't been at his best, but he's been consistently better than Columbus' left defender today. Barco... has not.
90' Escobar gets a 2nd yellow (unearned I feel) and then has words/ shoves with a Crew player on the bench. Atlanta down to 10.
Chicago and Montreal did their part today, but Atlanta held true to form and sucked. The FO's failure to hire a manager cost this team a playoff spot.
FT: 2-1 A fitting end to Atlanta's season, and to 2020. Will unpack it all later. Don't give up the faith, 17's. Next year will be better without a doubt.
Meh, the roster was the biggest problem. We looked this rough with Damm and Moreno, and didn't even have them for half the season. Pep Guardiola isn't winning a trophy with this side.
In the end we needed one win to get into the playoffs. A manager with some kind of direction wins one more game at least. That was my point. I don't think this roster is winning silverware, but I do think they could have gotten into the playoffs.
