Blinked and missed the start of the game. Possibly just as well, because I’d hate to think our powerful new lineup would fail to concede 2 goals in the first ten minutes by the skin of our teeth. … Oh wait — perhaps I should’ve posted this in the Gallows Humor thread …
Oh FFS! Just saw the replay of the goal — at the same time as we almost gifted them another. Saved by a dicey offside flag. Ummm, Wayne? Just so you know, succeeding as a manager means your players have to know which goal to defend and which to attack. Not sure we’re making progress there yet.
Watching Berry there flashed me back 20+ years, when I used to criticize Roy Lassiter by saying, “I don’t have to pay to see Roy Lassiter to get caught offside and miss sitters inside the six — I can do that myself!”
Hydration break, and we’d be lucky to be down 3, let alone the 1 we’ve actually given up. Honestly, WTF are they teaching kids these days? I’ve seen better defending in a U8 pickup game. If Montreal were even moderately competent at attacking, we’d have shipped a half-dozen already.
Ashton’s fiendishly devilish plan is coming into effect. Everyone knows that the 2-0 lead is the most dangerous in all football.
There actually is a theory in football that it’s better to play defense 75 yards from your own goal as opposed to 25 yards from your own goal. Good forwards are useful in this scheme. Of course, that pre-supposes that at any time you’re actually 1) playing 75 yards from your goal in any capacity, and 2) playing defense anywhere on the pitch.
This team has the soccer iq of a fruitfly. The truly awful so far: Pines Dirkin Skundrich Samake Djeffal.
Taxi tried a few things but everyone else was trash. Playing young and deeply unready or untalented young guys is not a learning experience and it’s not a good fan experience. People are paying real money for this.
Righto. When you've got to handle the speed of a Quioto, best practice is to not let the distributor pick up his head. Turns out DCU is not a six sigma organization.
The Limp act are faster and quicker to the ball all over the field. It's deadly when their attackers are faster than our defenders, and their defenders are faster than our attackers. Not to mention the fact that none of our players seem to be able to trap a ball cleanly.
This enrages me to no end. Professional soccer players should have a firm grasp of the basic mechanical techniques of the game.
