So am I the only one who is stuck on a frozen commercial from NBCsports? Don’t want to miss the 2nd half. DCU played much better in the final 10 mins.
That was a pretty damn boring half of soccer... I guess we looked better near the end, but never even kind of looked like we were in danger of scoring.
The quasi 5-4-1 that we're collapsing into makes transitions tough, especially when 1) Sorga's hold-up game isn't his strength, and 2) we don't have a straight burner like Arriola who can give support quickly. Feels like we'll need a turnover or a special finish to get on the board. And as I'm typing that...damnit. Own Goal gets on the board.
the team is not used to playing on turf - the Revs are - - thats a big difference in connecting passes to together also, Edison needs to pass or dribble OUT of trouble
Yeah, too many poor balls in the final third. They harassed NE pretty well but were second best. They still had enough chances to steal it, but Flores and Gressel have to deliver better.
After watching that abomination it’s hard to tell that Olsen wasn’t coaching again. After focusing on the passing lanes in game one we just chased the ball like a chicken with our heads cut off in game 2. Mora was a massive liability tonight. The attack died with him on the ball.
Just sloppy on the ball all over the field, really. That's also two games in which we've created very few clear-cut chances -- I hope that's at least partially a reflection of missing Arriola and Kamara. That left mid position worries me. Mora's a good attacker for a defender, but I'm not sure I can say the same when he's an actual midfielder, if that makes sense? Does Arriola go there?
I think Arriola takes Asad’s position. DCU will have to find another left footed player to replace Mora. As many touches as that position gets its critical to get someone who can hold the ball and make decent decisions.
First, Arena should ream out his team for barely surviving against an inferior squad. NE has a much more talented roster and they really had very few dangerous looks all night. Second, can we say it yet -- Flores is a bust. He's not awful, but he's not a $5 million player. For that price in MLS, you get a player that scares the other team and can dominate possession. Flores would constantly get the ball, stand on it and draw pressure and be dispossessed. Maybe he's watching old Acosta highlights, IDK. Flores is just a better version of Asad -- who by the way had his second useless game. No offense and the guy really can't play defense. Gressel's service was poor, especially in the second half, but he's getting no support from either Flores or Asad to create danger and space. DCU needs many things -- the most important is to shorten the injury list. The most impactful player missing is Arriola. When he is fit, Mora is a sub. I also would want to see Perez or Smith in Asad's place next game. Both are bigger and faster than Asad -- maybe they are better as well.
