I’m actually ok with that, given that Taxi probably isn’t 90 minutes fit yet, and Flores needs to show something, anything, to justify his existence. Or demonstrate definitively what we already know — whatever his qualities, he’s a bad match for this team.
This was a careful selection of match to have a new coach. A home game against a terrible NE team running old man Altidore when he can barely move his legs. We only play one decent team in the next 3.
I’m not convinced they have the grit to see this out. 8 minutes of stoppage is a lot to kill. We’ll see.
Not really. Robertha’s injury took 3.5 minutes, and there was another lengthy stoppage in the aftermath of NE’s second goal. It’s justified, but you rarely see it.
I'm fine with Kempin as our third choice GK, but I hope the new guy's visa get cleared in time for our next match.
Great saves by Kempin late -- though it was way too easy for NE get chances. We're not designed to hold possession, so late leads may never feel safe. Overall: Good energy, a few goals, and a win. For a team in disarray, I'll take it.
Phew! That was dire. I understand making defensive moves and sitting back when you’re up two goals after the hour mark, but the team lost all interest in attacking and posing any kind of threat. I think having 11 men on the pitch until the final whistle is the difference between this result and the Austin game.
