What: DC United vs Montreal Impact When: Tuesday, July 21, 10:30 PM Where: DISNEY WORLD!!! Why: Because MLS is Back. How to watch: ESPN2 or TUDN Odds: DC United +135, Montreal +175 What's at stake: A win and DC United is off to the knockout round, regardless of what happens with Toronto vs New England this morning. A tie makes it likely they're off to the knockout round, but it's not a guarantee (a FC Cincinnati loss tomorrow would make it a guarantee). Vamos!
It would be nice to see them start with some cohesion and energy. I think Montreal will be on the front foot from the start. Keeping a tight defense and not conceding early will give us a good chance for the offense to wake up. We shall see.
After this morning's scoreless draw, if DC can win tonight by 2 goals or more, they win the group and would play the 3rd place squad from Groups A, B, or F. A victory by 1 gets them 2nd place, and a date with the Union in the knockout stages.
While I don't see us scoring 2 goals or two more goals than the Impact with as erratic as this team is no scenario is out of the question. The likely option is we do enough to scrape out the draw and keep slowly plodding a long. Here is to Pipa bringing 3 points home tonight.
I don't know where the two goals are coming from but if we concede early again it is over. This team will implode like the Galaxy on Saturday.
Don't worry. We can't lose the first game of the playoffs unless we are in the playoffs. This is just a formality, as far as God is concerned.

This is why I can't be a sports gambler. With that lineup, I'd be putting unreasonable amounts of money on the under, which means we lose 2-1 or something.
Eff Benny and his don't lose mentality straight to that spot off lot 8 where I used to piss into the Anacostia.
The best thing about having 15 midfielders on your team is being able to use them all to defend your box.
My men's rec league team attempts to play better soccer(before the season was cancelled) than DCU. Now that Rooney and Acosta are gone no one on the field ever looks to play a through ball or inventive pass, much less is actually able to pull it off.
