BTW - I am down to one last tag. We are also in the process of working through the numbers.

OK folks - we are maxed out at 50 for the time being. We are finalizing the application and working with DCU to get the exact logo specifications and will hopefully file the application very soon.

Once everything is approved we will receive individual applications from the MVA. At that time we will also open it up for additional tag applications so if you missed out on the first 50 don't worry.

So, I don't need to do anything else until you post the next instructions?

Re: DC United Maryland License Plates

You will hear from me shortly. I am in the process of assigning certain tag numbers to people.

Here is the process from here on out (as I understand it from the the MVA):

    - We just received the artwork from DCU today - I need Eric to look it over since I have no idea what I am looking at (hell, I don't even think I have an app on my computer to open it)

    - I will finalize the list of tag numbers

    - I will fill out the application, send it to Paul for his signature and then we turn it into the MVA

    - It goes in front of the commission that approves organizational tags and they will then give us approval

    - From there they will give us individual applications you will need to fill out and return to me with your $25

    - The MVA will send you your new plates and stickers - you will be asked to promptly return your old plates

-- Anyone not on the original list will be able to obtain an application from the Screaming Eagles once the application process is complete. These tags will be issued on a first come first serve sequential basis. I haven't cleared it with the officers of the SEs but I do have a few ideas in mind for some of the later special numbers (0099 for instance).

Yeah, the $52 up front is not that big a deal, but the $26 annual fee is a bit of a wtf.

. . . but as someone moving to the district, I'm thinking about it.

    I'll Do the DC Tags

    I'll do it.

I haven't had a chance to read through just what needs to happen yet but I'll figure it out. Sounds like the artwork will already be taken of thanks to the MD effort so that's one hurdle down.

IIRC, When this was bandied about, 3 (or more) years ago, we needed you, me, and 348 of our closest VA DCU friends for it to happen. If the Not-for-profit angle also applies to VA, as it does to MD & DC, it might happen with the backing & support of one of the Supporter's Groups.

VA is brought up time and again but always fall short of the 350 people committed to make it happen. Even DC United has tried to help out and it still fell short...

Everyone who has sent me e-mails - hang in there. As you can guess, the club is a little busy with the news that has surfaced on Poplar Point. We need the club to provide some graphics for the logo.

As soon as we receive the logo and the application is filed I will let everyone know.

Patience is relative. I just fired off an "I don't mean to be a pain, but make sure that when I need to pay you need to send me a VERY clear email so I don't drop the ball" type of email...

But now that I've gotten around to reading this, that email can be ignored :D

Re: DC United Maryland License Plates

It has been a long time coming but I think all the hurdles are down and we are full speed ahead. If you expressed interest in the plates you should have an e-mail from me.

    If not, here goes:

    - The plate has been modified (and this should make some people very happy) so that the DCU website is now listed across the bottom. We have been promised a link off the homepage and joint marketing efforts so we are very pleased with that.

    - Life has gotten in the way but I am making a massive push this week to get the first 50 numbers assigned and get the app in by Friday. I am awaiting the color samples from DCU but I don't think that should be a problem.

If you are interested but have not yet e-mailed me - go ahead and shoot me an e-mail at screamingeagletags@gmail.com. I will add you to the list and as soon as we get the approved applications I will be back in touch with you.

If you are a DC resident and are reading this - we will have information for you soon. Virginia residents - there might even be something for you as well in the near future but that is a far larger hill to climb and might not be until summer.

Thanks to DCU, the Screaming Eagles, and to you, personally for your effort. I hope that the VA tags can happen soon.
