Hear ye, hear ye! Who: All Gooners in the DC area. What: A pre-game social before DC United take on the hapless, feeble club with the dorky chickens on their jerseys. When: Wednesday, May 14th, pre-game (approximately 4-7). Come when you may. Where: Fast Eddie's Billiards Cafe 1520 K Street, NW Washington, DC 20005 (202) 73-SPORT Why: To talk about Gooner stuff, further the prevention of Tottenaria Dementia, and ward off the evil Yevgheny. How: Metro (1 1/2 blocks from McPherson Square Metro station, Blue/Orange lines). Parking stinks. If you're going to the game (highly encouraged for Sp*rs-taunting activity), just hop back on the Metro for a direct ride to the stadium. When you get to 1520 K, there are two entrances. Use the one on the RIGHT (Fast Eddie's). Go up the small set of initial stairs, then one more flight to the pool hall, which also features an Arsenal honors pennant. Revelation has indicated his attendance as well. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. -G. Rex PS- Wear red, to ward off the Tottenaria Dementia carriers.
It just gets better. DC United has now played the Sp*rs twice. They have won twice. No DC United player has scored a goal. The first game, last autumn at White Hart Lane, was won by a goal from a guest player from San Jose. Now, the Sp*rs have found another novel way to lose, an own goal. Sp*rs - snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! -G. Rex
Wasn't it Jaime Moreno who got the goal the first time? If so he did play many a season with DC and that's where he was his best etc.
Naw, it was somebody like Wade Barrett, I think. I remember hearing about that game and wondering, "What's he doing playing for D.C.?"
To clarify: Jaime Moreno set up Wade Barrett (guest player) for the goal at Three Point Lane. Hristo Stoichkov took a shot that deflected off Stephen Carr at RFK. The deflection was severe to say the least. The original shot was going in but the deflection took Keller out of the play completely. And despite what the stats say, DC United had chances last Wednesday and dominated the game for stretches of time. All in all wonderful because a Sp*rs loss is a win for everyone!
