When the two of you have figured it out, lemme know, cause I've got a good friend who lives out in Valencia who wants to come see the Cup and meet some other LA area Gooners as well.
Wow how awesome of an opportunity is this! Can't wait to see that! Is Trinity Hall opening early enough for the match on the 2nd or is this going to be sort of a post match thing?
In SoCal, I still say next to the Pacific Ocean in beautiful Santa Monica and the 3rd Street Promenade is much better than the smoggy dreary "Valley" and FnH, so I say Kings Head, Britannia, or Cock'n'Bull!!! (or all 3?). Either way, Art'n'Sue will show. Britannia: http://www.britanniapub.com/ King's Head: http://www.yeoldekingshead.com/ Cock'n'Bull: http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/163743/
Actually my avatar is from the Fox and Hound back in 2003 (Yep that is the FA Cup and the Barclaycard EPL Champions Cup). Was anyone else on this forum there and had the honor back then? The privilege of that moment is even more incredible now thinking back! So Fox and Hound already has had their glory, thus another good reason to move it over to the Westside/Santa Monica Area.
I've been emailing back and forth with Gary Richards of 2Gs, Arsenal Hour and FSC's "Super Sunday +" fame. He's sold the Fox & Hounds, and says that LA Gooners tend to gather at Kings Head in Santa Monica. We're also going to work on getting Rick to appear in studio with the 2Gs while in LA.
????!!!! And I was going to be told this when!!!!!! I love it when I'm the last to know - please email me the details if and when this is happening.
I'm probably being a bit dumb here, but what is the FA Cup replica? When I went on a Wembley Stadium tour, I was told that there were 8 actual FA Cups in circulation. I got to lift the actual FA Cup that Dave and Patrick lifted back in 2003. They were the last ones to lift that particular cup. The Cup was really old and the guide was obviously very protective over it.
There is one actual FA Cup that the players lift. When you win it you keep the actual trophy for a year, then it is given to the next winner and you are given a replica. And mate that pic makes the cup look massive, you look about Rick's height
I dicked around and missed the dinner in DC. Is there any chance of the Cup making a repeat visit before you leave?
I got to hold Milan's CL trophy a few months back, now its time for the FA Cup (even though this is the replica). I'll probably have held more silverware in these last 6 months, as most spurs players have in their entire life
As the San Francisco get-together Just spoke to Rick this morning, and we are tentatively planning the San Francisco get-together on the evening of Monday, February 4th. Exact time & location to be determined, though leaning towards Maggie McGarrys because it's become of favorite of our local supporters lately and is closer to where Rick is staying. I will post here with plans are firm.
Anybody wanting to see the silverware in Seattle will need to come to the George and DRAGON at 6pm on Saturday, not on (super bowl) sunday (though the irony would be amusing). The bad news is that little Ricky will be 36,000 feet above ground when the G&D is showing our match at 10AM. The good news is that we'll be able to shove the cup in the faces of unsuspecting Manure fans watching their replay. George & Dragon footy schedule and website MAP If anyone is going to our 10am showing please spread the word.
Just a reminder to DFW supporters but the Cup will be at Trinity Hall. Set those alarms, its early. 6:45 kickoff. http://trinityhall.tv/Sports.htm
The FA Cup in San Francisco! We'll be meeting Monday, February 4th, 7:00PM at Maggie McGarrys Maggie McGarrys 1353 Grant Street San Francisco, CA 94133 (415) 399-9020 http://www.maggiemcgarrys.com
Theoretically, yes. Rick is flying back to the UK via BWI if I remember correctly. You might want to contact Mike (HighburyGoon) for details.
Aye it's a wee replica, is it not? This thread is great. Looking forward to pics of every city it goes to.
So what's up guys, do we still want to meet at the F&H? Or should we hit the King's Head? I've been meaning to check that place out, but haven't got around to it yet.
