Lol, that's a funny idiom! What eaxactly does it mean? Does it refer to the stink a buried dog's corpse would spread, although not visible?

We also know "Da ist der Hund begraben" in German. Here is an explanation ( in German)
    https://www.swr.de/wissen/1000-antworten/kultur/da-liegt-der-hund-begraben-100.html
A black dog was buried next to a treasure who should protect the treasure so that nobody will find it. If you know where the dog is buried you also know where the treasure is. You found the cause of the problem.

You think I'm an oldie sighting, how about this oldie sighting from one of the stories in the Göteborg newspaper a couple days ago:
    XfkYwmc2PcxVkx4gCYxfBbm_6Hs.jpg

(the grey hairs must be from dealing with all this bureaucratic drivel — age can't possible have anything to do with it)

The members of BK Häcken voted YES today to bringing Göteborg FC in to the club. 416 Yes votes and 35 No votes so a big majority wanted this. Göteborg FC needs to vote yes themselves tomorrow but surely they will, so this means the champions should definitely be saved now.

BK Häcken has been the most successful Gothenburg club on the men's side the past few years and seem willing to invest quite a bit of money into this takeover. As they already have a women's team in div 2 they will have to be called something slightly different for the first year I think, surely some awkward combo of names :D.

Göteborg FC also voted yes today of course so now it's a done deal.

New name will be BK Häcken FF, so not a very awkward name after all, just the added FF. (Unless you spell it out completely of course, which is pretty much Ball Club Häcken Football Club :D ). A lot better than the current Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC really.

Team will be using the same stadium and training facilities as the men's team, which are lightyears better than the rundown stadium they've been playing at. Some talk of a bigger budget for the team too, but remains to be seen.

was wondering how good is Goteberg's Julia Koddar?(Washington Spirit fans want to know!)

noticing too Sweden's dynamite duo of Asllani & Jakobsson burning up the S[anish League; Real Madrid is currently in 2nd place(after only 10th in their first year). Asslani(made apparently the central striker) got 9 goals(5th highest in the league) Jakobsson with 6 goals & 7 assists(2nd highest). Here's video of their last game, Jakobsson(simply the most underrated woso player in the last decade) dominates play

I don't know what to compare her to but Julia Roddar is a good player, had a pretty strong season, but not the star of the league or anything like that. Not the star of Goteborg either really but played pretty much every match and is in and out of the Sweden squads, mainly used at central mid or wingback. Will probably fit in in the NWSL, she has a kind of American style of play and mentality.

Wow. That is amazing, kind of gives you hope and wind in your sails. It's good to know some countries do more than promote gender equity as window dressing that is nothing more than that.

The correct spelling is Honoka Hayashi. ;)

And I can confim to you that she's a very interesting player: she's U-20 World Champion 2018 (check out below her goal vs USA in that tournament; incidentally I saw that game live in France) and she's been recently called in Senior NT (frendly match vs Paraguay that will be played tomorrow).

They're back, and a new way to watch:

▶ OBOS Damallsvenskan: Hammarby - BK Häcken formerly Göteborg - Wnited.tv (sign-in needed)

"The Wnited team is thrilled to be offering you select top matchups from the Swedish women’s league, OBOS Damallsvenskan, on a weekly basis. Follow some of the world's best talents and international profiles as they clash for the national title and 3 UWCL qualification spots - LIVE and VOD - free of charge. These matches will be available in select territories worldwide. This specific match is geo-blocked in the following countries: Sweden, Mexico and Venezuela."

No more pirating of SVT for me! well, maybe for old times' sake. That streaming site is co-owned by Red Bee (Ericsson), which may explain the Swedish connection.

Very much enjoying this new age of Swedish league coverage (that they've geoblocked in Sweden, I'm really sorry) The game on 2 May even had unnecessary beauty shots of the Stockholm Olympic Stadium, it's such a picturesque place. (sorry)

2 May: Djurgården - AIK full match / Highlights: Damallsvenskan site / Match report: SVT.se (Archive)
7 May: Kristianstad - Vittsjö full match / Highlights: Damallsvenskan

Sweden still has its coverage on the Sportbladet site, I think, and SVT will show 14 games after the Olympics. In actual news of football, the league leaders are Rosengård with four wins in four games. Kristianstad (2nd) drew a game with Eskilstuna in the first week while Linköping lost 1-0 to Rosengård, but Linköping are in 3rd place after beating Häcken and (yesterday) Piteå, 4-3! The home team led 4-0 in the first half, but Piteå reached 4-3 in the final moments with a screaming free-kick from the halfway line by Norwegian goalkeeper Guro Pettersen (as posted by @Bauser).

One club who beat Rosengård (in the cup) are Häcken - they won that semi-final 1-0, and Häcken became 2021's Svenska Cupen winners yesterday, with a 3-0 final victory over Eskilstuna.

5 games in and nothing really surprising so far in Damallsvenskan. The expected top teams are all already at the top and those expected to struggle are all at the bottom. Looks like Rosengård will be the team to beat this year.

Top scorers so far with 4 goals each: Kanu (Linköping), Schough (Rosengård), Blackstenius (Häcken)

More WNT than Damallsvenskan but after Sweden vs Norway 1-0 on Thursday Caroline Seger now share most caps in Sweden with Therese Sjögran at 214.
And most in Europe with Birgit Prinz (Germany) and Therese Sjögran.

The league is back today after the international matches.
Rounds 6–8 saw some movement: Häcken up to 2nd place, promoted club Hammarby up to 5th, and Rosengård remain 1st by five points, as each of those teams recorded two wins and a draw.

Hammarby beat Djurgården and Kristianstad (KDFF are knocked down to 4th). Hammarby's Madelen Janogy won player of the month with three goals in the victories, while in a 3-3 draw Linköping's Fischer got her first goal since returning to the Swedish league. LFC are still 3rd but have drawn four games in a row.

    Hammarby 3 - 2 Djurgården - (Madelen Janogy 7', Emma Jansson 49'p, 82' / Elizabeth Addo 8', Hayley Dowd 77')
    https://www.obosdamallsvenskan.se/play/video/124011

    Linköping 3 - 3 Hammarby - (Sofie Bredgaard 17', 32', Nilla Fischer 51' / Emilia Larsson 4', Emma Jansson 27', Matilda Vinberg 62')

Kristianstad end Rosengård's 7-game winning run with a 0-0 draw, but not before Rosengård went and won 7-0 at AIK (8th) in the 7th match round. The league leaders have retained Jelena Čanković with a new 4-year contract at Rosengård, despite interest from "several big clubs", in the same week when the midfielder scored for Serbia in a win. In 2nd place, Häcken have suffered a blow in attack, as Pauline Hammarlund tore her ACL during a 3-0 win vs Eskilstuna.

Near the bottom, Piteå (10th) beat Djurgården (11th), and Piteå had a 1-0 loss to Rosengård and a goalless game at Häcken. In last place Växjö (12th) have only 2 points, with a 0-0 result vs Linköping.
(For some reason, the match reports often give an attendance of "8" exactly, which is unusual, even given the closed stadiums, etc. Are they the same 8 people every time, or...?)

Today, Sunday 20 June, the match on Wnited is Häcken v AIK (13:00 GMT).

Until june 1st spectators where allowed but no more than 8, so naturally pretty much all had 8.
Now it is 500 or for small areans 100 (but the later shouldn't include any of Damallsvenskans).

Damallsvenskan taking an Olympic break now, time for an update!
    league21.png

Rosengård and Häcken will be battling it out for the title. No other team is going to challenge.

Will be interesting to see what happens to Rosengård now that they have lost their coach to Arsenal and several starters (Viggosdottir, Björn, Anvegård) also leaving during the break. They are signing German veteran Bianca Schmidt and Eskilstuna star Loreta Kullashi.

Häcken has so far signed Danish internationals Stine Larsen and Mille Gejl to cope with the potentially busy fall schedule of league and hopefully Champions League group stage.

Hammarby is the most exciting newly promoted team for a long time. They are one of the big Swedish clubs on the men's side and they also have ambitions for their women's team. Great start and holding the 3rd CL spot during the break. They have played entertaining football and they also have the most dedicated fans in the league by a fair margin, all other teams must be green with envy. Some 300-400 fans travelled the 200km to support them for the away match against KIF Örebro yesterday, very impressive! Nice celebrations after the win too:

I expect a big battle for that 3rd CL spot though and they are chased by a whole bunch of teams. Kristianstad (very up and down so far) are closest and they will soon be hosting the mini tournament with Brøndby, Bordeaux and Slavecko in their CL debut.

Near the bottom we have Piteå, the champions of 2018, with another poor season. But should be ok as only one team gets demoted this season as the league is expanded to 14 teams next season. Not a fan of that idea, their are not enough teams willing/able to invest enough money.

Newly promoted Hammarby rivals AIK also have a big men's club backing them but not nearly the same support or hype around them. Several important players missing for them lately and they are free falling with a GD of 0-16 in the last 4 games.

Växjö have not been awful but they can't score. 3 goals in 12 matches, ok that is awful. They have signed Finnish Internationals Juliette Kemppi and Adelina Engman in hope to better this, but they weren't exactly big scorers the last time they played in Damallsvenskan.
