Some programs aren't waiting for the season to even end this year. Thus far, 1 private, 1 public. 1. Butler University - Joe Sochacki (resigns) 2. University of Louisville - Tony Colavecchia (resigns)
Yeah, right. I am sure that Louisville and Butler were thinking...Which MLS coach will be available for me to hire at $35,000? Give me a break....If it were UVA, Duke, UCLA...I buy it, but not with these programs.
Forgot to add Evansville. 1. Butler University - Joe Sochacki (resigns) 2. University of Evansville - Dave Golan (resigned) 3. University of Louisville - Tony Colavecchia (resigns)
1. Butler University - Joe Sochacki (resigned) 2. Cal State Fullerton - Al Mistri (retiring) 3. University of Evansville - Dave Golan (resigned) 4. University of Louisville - Tony Colavecchia (resigned)
Thre's no actual vacancy at Fullerton. When Mistri announced he is stepping down, the school named long-time assistant coach Bob Amman, the brother of former MLS star Mike, as his replacement.
Of these four, Butler and Louisville would seem to be the places that would interest a coach. Louisville can be a real contender in the new Big East.
Inside rumors indicate an announcement later today for the new head coach at the University of Evansville to replace Dave Golan after his resignation. I've heard who it might be but I can't get confirmation. More on this as I get news...
Probably. Louisville is fully funded (9.9) athletically. Butler is fully funded including equivalency (8.5 athletic, 1.5 academic). Both are in good areas for athletics and amenities, and the cost of living is pretty affordable.
I have been expecting Bob Bradley from Chicago Fire/ Metro Stars fame to show up somewhere on the college soccer radar. I know he wants to continue to live on the east coast so that would present limitations, but it still wouldn't surprise me to see his name come up somewhere.
OK. Now it looks like: 1. Butler University - Joe Sochacki (resigned) 2. Cal State Fullerton - Al Mistri (retiring), Bob Amann - CSF AC 3. University of Evansville - Dave Golan (resigned), Mike Jacobs- Duke AC 4. University of Louisville - Tony Colavecchia (resigned)
We can add another one from the Coaching Hot Seat thread. Cleveland State's Pete Curtis will not return for another season after an 0-18-0 season. That means that 50% of Horizon League coaches have turned over in the past 2 seasons. 1. Butler University - Joe Sochacki (resigned) 2. Cal State Fullerton - Al Mistri (retiring), Bob Amann - CSF AC 3. Cleveland State University - Pete Curtis (contract not renewed) 4. University of Evansville - Dave Golan (resigned), Mike Jacobs- Duke AC 5. University of Louisville - Tony Colavecchia (resigned)
Does Cleveland St have their field issues settled. I know they were playing like Nomads near the end of last season. That is a job that I am not too sure about. They have had some decent players (a Youth Canadian NT player who left early about two years ago comes to mind) but have a difficult time getting the quantity of quality players.
Looks like it. After making a significant financial committment to rennovating the surface at Krentzler Field, they went the entire season without a win or a draw. I've got to believe that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Steve Adlard. That was going to happen sooner or later. They've been in a steady downward slide since 2001, and have gotten to be whipping boys for local rivals Wisconsin and UW-M. Moving from C-USA to the Big East looks to have created the same type of problems Louisville's been faced with.
