http://washingtontimes.com/metro/20031003-112913-7391r.htm This has implications on the future of DCU as well. There's still interest in building the SSS, although the baseball issue is overshadowing the debate.
RFK is a super soccer venue. Would it be possible to take off the upper seating ring, and fill out the lower bowl to make a 30K seat stadium w/ a roof???? Wouldn't that be ideal?
the upper deck isn't the problem with RFK. In fact with the stadium built with the upper deck and roof the way they are makes a crowd of 20,000 there louder than 40,000-50,000 in many other stadiums. The problem is it is just old and needs completely refurbished (ala Soldier Field) or replaced outright.
Because the original Senators didn't win a thing after 1925 and the second Senators never had a winning season. Because Clark Griffith's son didn't share his father's devotion to Washington.
Soccer in the USA did not work before, what makes them think it will work this time around? Same question... Sachin
Well.. you are are Metrofan, so I don't want to be on that team Simply saying that DC is a bad baseball town because of what happened 3 decades ago is the like basing the future of American soccer on what happened with the NASL. Silly arguements are silly arguements no matter who makes them. There are few good reasons NOT to have a baseball team in the DC area. There are plenty of good reasons not to build a baseball stadium in the DC area, however. BTW, there will always be a DCSEC in some form or another, it's just a question of whose interests get served. Sachin
