Does anyone know if it's possible to find the statistics of dribbling of prime R9 or prime Ronaldinho ? It would be interesting to make a comparaison with CR7 dribbling stats.. From Whoscored ,Ronaldinho has completed only 1.4 dribble overall from 2010 to 2015 seasons . So I 'm almost sure the dribbling ability of the two brazilians are a little bit overrated ...
@carlito86 good job . Do you have messi overall dribbling stats from 2003 to 2009 seasons ? I saw a graph that said he has completed 7 to 8 dribble per game from all competitions on certain seasons but for me it seems fake .
If you compare his almost static Ronaldinho's version at Milan with his version of PSG and Barcelona, the difference is like black/white. 5 dribbles completed and 14 progressive ball carries are possible acc Statsbomb methodology, specially when he was a more serial dribbler in his first season. Acc to Statsbomb these numbers percentile 99 in progressive carries and dribbles completed: https://fbref.com/en/players/69384e5d/Neymar The difference is that he was more accurate in his dribbling than Neymar for example. Alongside it, Ronaldinho was also a great ball progressor via passing and playmaking, making him a tier 1 ball progressor in his peak Ronaldinho. R9 he dribbled more for Inter and Barcelona than in the Brazilian NT, I counted something around ~4.5 as average in the matches I watched (against top opponents), many of them ending in a shot and in the center of the pitch, that's percentile 99-100 for a striker. He won a lot, a lot of fouls too. Arguably one of the most dangerous dribblers of all time (alongside maybe Pelé and Messi) as he had that level of gravity when start running. Not comparable era too. They many times had to foul him almost every possession. So no idea how the Brazilians were overrated in terms of dribbling. Btw, another novice member with very specifics questions and affirmations.
Statistics doesn’t say much here. Simple eye test proves that Ronaldo 9 and Ronaldinho were much superior dribblers compared to CR7’s unnatural dribbling.
Unnatural dribbling None of the fundamentals of technique are inherent You aren't born a natural goalscorer, defender or playmaker The skills of ones like Neymar and Ronaldinho were honed playing futsal before they were even professional footballers

Eden Hazard doesn't seem to be a high volume Dribbler in his Lille years. Why did you chose 2009/10 to 2015/16 period for him and left out 2016/17 and 2017/18 where he completed 4.3 and 6.1 dribbles per 90 min? Also it seems his dribble numbers at Lille were never that high His dribbling numbers started to increase from 2013/14 it seems (per 90min) in Premier League:- 13/14: 4.1 14/15: 4.8 15/16: 3.7 16/17: 4.3 17/18: 6.1 18/19: 4.2 Now please reply with good arguments without resorting to insults and aggression like you've done in other threads . Also why do you think his dribbling numbers were low at Lille in France? Btw, i agree with you on the first few lines. One style might look more aesthetic , one more rough , but effectiveness might be same , and ultimately in football that matters. I have seen him making stupid and hypocrital remarks like this in other threads like Pele vs Messi thread , where he resorted to downplaying era , farmers etc nonsense like casuals
Also, one thing . How do you rate Garrincha's Dribbling ? From the footages of him available from World Cups , he seems to dribble a lot . Around 12-13 dribbles per game on average . So by this dribble count criteria he seems to be undisputed goat dribbler However i have also seen lot of people mocking and trolling him and dismiss him due to those footages and dribbling
Hey @carlito86 A few months ago, I questioned you about the best dribbling games of Ronaldo from his early United day to make a map on it, you were very useful. Now, I want to go even deeper and make a map of his time at Sporting Portugal in the 2002/03 season, so I wanted to know if you had some knowledge about that season from him and could help me to find his best dribbling performance from it. Thank you
Officially His first full 90 minutes His first goal was a solo goal from the half way line and the second a header It could've been 4 goals but for good goalkeeping(he had another attempted solo goal and a low volley saved) He also played various fairly good attempted crosses Non officially For pure dribbling it would clearly IMO be his 2003 pre season match against Manchester United As a purist you'd probably prefer this Unlike the previous match comp this is 15 minutes long and has all his touches He was hhe best player on the pitch without recording a single goal or assist Just days after this Cristiano would be announced as a Manchester United player and as they say the rest is history.
6 successful dribbles/18 progressive carries vs Manchester United is superb for a 18 year old I think a goal of any sort would've made this a top 50 performance in his career Arguably top 20 if it was a competitive match(in the UCL for example) One match that you should analyse for progressive carries is the famous one vs Benfica away A caveat to this is that we do have confirmed numbers for a couple of games before 09/10.1⃣6⃣ Messi has Champions League record with 16 successful dribbles vs Man Utd in 2008.1⃣4⃣ Ronaldo's highest in UCL is 14 successful dribbles vs Benfica in 2006. https://t.co/4L1BE0Mwyf— MessivsRonaldo.app (@mvsrapp) September 23, 2021 This is the full match with all his touches
Not sure about "only 1 match with 8+ dribbles by Cristiano Ronaldo in the UCL: These are also confirmed 8 successful dribbles vs Chelsea in the 2008 UCL final 8 - Only two players have completed 8+ dribbles in a single Champions League final prior to 2010: Barcelona's Ronaldinho (10) vs Arsenal (2006) and Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo (8) vs Chelsea (2008). Success. pic.twitter.com/CmTLNBaojS— OptaJose (@OptaJose) March 26, 2020 8 succesful dribbles vs Roma in the 2007 CL quarter final https://www.mykhel.com/football/cri...-break-man-utd-7-1-win-remembered-165745.html 14 successful dribbles in the CL vs Benfica 2006/07 For certain even with the most conservative calculations he also he had 8+ dribbles Vs Benfica 2005/06(home) 2 successful dribbles at 1:59 2 successful dribbles at 2:34 1 successful dribble at 3:50 1 succesful dribble at 4:46 1 successful dribble at 4:53 1 succesful dribble at 5:40 2 succesful dribbles at 6:03 Vs Lyon 2004/05 You can compare this vs Lyon to some dejan savecevic performances for Crvena zvezda and there is literally no difference from a technical standpoint Laszlo Bölöni the first coach in his career breaks this down then i ever could "I decided that he wasn't going to play in the youth teams again. In the dressing room he was a joker, but on the pitch he was exceptional. He had a maturity that wasn't normal for a 16-17 year old". . "I thought about putting him on the right-wing because he was young and light, about 60 kilos, and it was going to be very difficult for him to hold it up and measure himself against 100-kilo centre-halves. On the wing, with speed and fantastic dribbling, he was going to be much more efficient," he said. For him, the most important thing was to dribble. He couldn't play without dribbling. My task was to tell him that one dribble was fine, two too... but five was too many. I explained to him where dribbling was most useful and his intelligence did the rest". I already said that he was going to beat Figo and Eusebio and those words cost me problems, "He will always be my boy". https://www.besoccer.com/new/for-ro...n-t-know-how-to-play-without-dribbling-826865 The evolution of Cristiano Ronaldo across his career is honestly something spectacular
@carlito86 Carlito, what is your twitter? Cr7 > R9? Who of the two has better prime? I thank you for answering me.
With the data presented here I made a table, with opta dribbles, totals and cumulative, season by season Cristiano Ronaldo Lionel Messi
Ronaldo is the first player that s in laliga+primer league+Ucl+world cup+Euro had a top 3 player that's complete most dribbles
