I hate to join in on the b!tching about the announcers, but the one guy sounds like he's never announced a MLS match before in his life. He's blotched up numerous names and various terms in soccer.

Hudson sounds like he's had a few drinks in him, though can any of us blame him?

We had the same problem a few weeks ago. Turns out that squirrels had chewed our cable. TW ran a new cable for us and that solved the problem. :)

Forget the match, lets just have us a Ray Hudson quote thread.

How hot does it need to be before Greg doesn't wear a sweater-vest?

The PBP guy described Andrulis as "embattled" as they went to the break, the closest they've come to saying anything negative about anybody.

I missed the first 20 minutes or so, but I got the impression they're doing better going forward without Martino.

quote from the metros announcer in thier game...

"chivas, the other LA team, comes to town next month... mark that one down as a win. theyre the worst team by far that i have ever seen in major league soccer".

gotta love the honesty. wonder what theyd say about us.

I gotta say, I don't think we looked half bad in the first half. If not for the lousy defending by Schulte, we'd be in the lead.

Szetela has had a number of decent runs and crosses, and has won his share of corners.

If we could replace Schulte with Hejduk, and put Glen in for Testo, I think our lineup would be ideal.

By the way, did you notice when Hudson pronounced Edson's name as "Boodle"? Funny. Say what you will about the SJ announce team, but they're infinitely better than the guys currently doing the Metros game.

I don't know, I thought the team's looked good, in relative terms at least. Although I can't figure out who's where.

    Is it:

    walker

    schulte fraser marshall
    wingert
    loco szetela elliott henderson
    testo
    buddle

From my view, the intensity seems to be brimming from Szetela. I think if we matched Szetela and Martino together, it could work quite well.

The fact is: Elliot and Martino just don't link up. They don't play off each other, and it just screws up our entire midfield.

Absolutely! After seeing Szetela's 45 minutes tonight, theres no way in heck he should be benched in favor of Martino for our next game.

I'm thinking it's more of your basic 4-4-2. I haven't seen Wingert that involved in the final third, so I'd put him back on the defensive side of the action.

Actions back on, well if you want to term it action..

I'd rather replace Buddle with Glen. I think Testo's looking good, good runs off the ball, passing, coming back and still getting forward. If Glen was in there instead of Buddle there'd be even more movement.

Relative being the crucial qualification here. I do agree there was more intensity.

    Cameron for Buddle?

Szetela's been all over the bloody pitch. It's beautiful.

I'd also leave Martino off; I think Elliott's having a great game as the a-mid/holding mid, which I think suits him a little better than strictly d-mid.

FSN/SJ has us playing a 3-5-1. They did it at the beginning of the game, too, leaving Wingert out both times.

Buddle with achilles problems they say.

"Buddle has tendonitis in his achilles tendon and he's being tended to..."

Maybe it's not as bad as I just heard; and all "tending" aside, why in the world does an injured player still play?

    Ain't that a fact!

By the way, have you noticed that the SJ tv crew omitted Wingert from our lineup at the start of the game, and they just skipped him again right now. Poor Chris.

    FSN/SJ has done a pretty piss-poor job.

And as I'm writing that, the feed freezes. Just great.

    I blame Andrulis. :D

Am I hallucinating, or did the PA announcer just attempt to lead the crowd in saying "Hoowah!"? Jeez, I knew I shoulda been there tonight.
