Tom Reed of the Dispatch is reporting Guille will be suspended for the match due to elbow in Chivas match.

(sorry, no link since I read it via twitter on my phone)

I'd like to see the bash brothers start up top this being the case.

    Schelotto says he is suspended

Gonna make this match REAL interesting.

    - throws a wrench in RBNY's game planning

    - so maybe RW shows them something they never saw before. To me that is NOT the Bash Brothers but maybe two starting that havent been seen as of yet.

Now why doesnt the league go back and punish that son of a bitch from Dallas for splitting Eddies lip wide open a month ago?

I am pretty sure we'll see the Bash Bros and Ekpo at wing, nothing else changed. The only thing I think is a toss up is between Orourke/Padula/Iro. Who's playing CB and if Iro is, who's playing LB.

The GBS suspension was deserved. It was a blatant elbow, Ref just didn't see it. I can't complain with the decision in the least bit as much as I hate saying it.

At least it comes on a weekend with two matches, GBS was never going to play 180 minutes over 4 days anyway.

So Guille throws an elbow at the guy that shouldn't even have been on the field at that time. Wonderful!

Damn, I don't like my Crew by 2 pick anymore. RBs midfield has been very suspect recently and I was looking for GBS to keep the flow going for the Crew.

I'll stand by it and see what Bobby comes up with...

I don't think we ever saw a very clear replay of the incident. GBS's elbow was seen pretty clearly.

At halftime, someone must have told Guille that New York has real grass now and that he would be expected to play in NY and KC.

As I said.. I like it even better. Of course that means I go back to results of last season with GBS out. It means that RBNY tactics are shit-canned and they have to go to other tape to see what to do.

So here's the thing.. are Marshall and Rogers sched for Sun? I wouldnt think so. But I would sit Gino and put Danny in at LB, then Danny with Iro at CB on Sunday.
Where's Zayner? sit Frankie on Thursday, too.

I know I'm really winging it but if there ever was a time to display depth, this is it.

If a Bash Brother strike pairing isn't creating offense, could Sergio see some actual time this week? Oh wait...Bob doesn't sub....nevermind.

Wow, you don't hold back. Did I see the kitchen sink in there too playing sweeper? ;)

I'd try to keep as much continuity going with the back line as possible and use Zayner as a sub for Hejduk in both matches. We've given up very few goals so changing it up that dramatically may not be warranted. But then again, what the hell do I know.... we've played with a MASH unit back there from the start.

Maybe we'll play for a thrilling nil-all draw, a la @RSL in the playoffs last year sans-GBS.

Now you mention it. sit the kitchen sink {Moffat}, play Gaven there. Which I think might release Carroll a little.
Please note I am not proposing any replacements that havent proven out in the past.

You're playin', right? Whole different thing. And you'd have a point if not for the MLS Cup result. I wish people would understand that. RSL were like RBNY in 08, except they were GOOD.

I'm sorry... what did I miss? Why shouldn't he have been on the field?

Robert said in an interview today regarding the Guille suspension that Danny O will start Thursday. (I think most of us thought he would)

Umana had a pretty blatant intentional handball that should have been his second yellow card in the first half.

    here's what I'd do

[LINEUP-4-4-2]Lenhart, Garey, Ekpo, Moffat, Carroll, Gaven, O'Rourke, Iro, Brunner, Hejduk, Hesmer[/LINEUP-4-4-2]
with the bench being: Gruenebaum, Padula, Zayner, Oughton, Renteria, Griffit, Herrera

That dude had already been booked? That totally escaped me somehow.

Gotta say... I'm a little bent out of shape now.

He was the guy with the intentional handling call that went uncarded. He already had the one yellow for his elbow to the back of Guille's head. He would have been red carded with 50+ minutes to go in the match.

Just saw that Cleazer addressed this.

    Here's what I'd do:

[LINEUP-4-4-2]Lenhart, Herrera, Gaven, O'Rourke, Carrol, Ekpo, Padula, Brunner, Iro, Hejduk, Hesmer[/LINEUP-4-4-2]

I think we'll see this instead:

[LINEUP-4-5-1]Lenhart, Ekpo, Moffat, Carroll, Gaven, Renteria, Padula, O'Rourke, Brunner, Hejduk, Hesmer[/LINEUP-4-5-1]

I would give the start to Herrera too. Let's hope Robert agrees.

Its' always disturbing when Guille isn't playing, but:

    - our record without him the past couple of years is very, very good;
    - we played well without him this year in our first match vs. Toluca.

I'm with the crowd that assumed he'd need a break this week anyway.

Re: the Bash Brothers, isn't it true that they have virtually no experience actually playing together? Yeah, maybe a handful of minutes toward the end of some matches, but that's about it, right? On the other hand, I recall some good karma coming from a Renteria/Lenhart pairing.

Well, anyway, sucks we're out three starters. But I'm excited to see some new faces out there.
