So the home game against the Metros isn't televised on July 20? WTF? The Metros televise everything don't they. Looks like I am coming to Columbus.
Crew TV is dealing with a hostile takeover of the broadcast team. Malcom Glazer is jealous of our quality production and is trying to buy off the entire broadcast team to take over and replace the slackers currently running Man U's station. Until these negotiations are settled, the station is having trouble getting people to run the shows.
I think it's more of a move on the part of Columbus, in that they are forcing all of us to actually attend the match.
not according to direct tv's website. http://www.directtvsports.com/Subscriptions/MLSDirectKick/Schedule/2005_7.htm
The SCHEDULE ON MLSNET shows that as a Direct Kick game. I don't knwo what it would be doing on "Fox Sports New York" since I believe their local deal is with the MSG Network, but whatever.
Huh. Since the same people that run that site run all the team sites maybe they could update the Crew site. I guess they are too busy uploading stories about Crew BOOM! to do that though.
FSN NY and MSG share teams/coverage area. I read once that MSG is a backup channel. When FSN NY has conflicts, the lower-tier team goes to MSG. This press release seems to prove that. The Metros schedule says the game is on FSN NY, not that it matters unless you're actually watching in the NYC area. Wednesday, July 20 @ Columbus Crew 7:30 p.m. FSN, WADO Anyway, back to Crew-talk.
MSG carries most of the games, FSN NY carries a couple. Both are owned by Cablevision. The reason that it changes is because the New York Mets are on both depending on the day. When they play at the same time, MetroStars are moved to the channel the Mets aren't on. It's the same broadcast team either way so no difference, although a few cable systems around here treat FSN NY as a more premium channel than MSG, which is basic cable around here.
I have the Direct Kick, or Free Kick, or Shootout, or whatever the hell they call it now package. I can't remember the last time I saw a Metros home telecast that WASN'T on MSG. Which is fine... they probably have the best broadcast of all 12 MLS teams.
