Do you have a pic of the paired-back version? I'm thinking I was thinking of the smaller version. I would guess the two new fields will be in the location of Community Feild 2 and 3 on the left side of this pic.
It was up for the Championship game. We drove down 71 to get to the stadium and I asked if HCS would have any MLS Cup advertisements. My buddy's nephew responded with does the Bubble count?
This may well be pay-walled for most: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbu...=40&cx_testVariant=cx_10&cx_artPos=1#cxrecs_s The gist is: - Pizzuti is wrapping up construction on on office building in Astor Park that'll include 17,000 sq ft of retail space. - This spring, Pizzuti will start construction of a residential building in Astor Park. - A second residential building is scheduled to be built later. It'll be a few years before Astor Park feels very park-like. Still, it's nice to see these projects moving forward. The plot of land directly north of the stadium still seems in flux - recall, it was originally pitched as possibly being for older residents, but that was just an initial concept - so it'll be interesting to see what eventually goes in there. Then there's that bridge to connect the AD and Franklinton, where it the DORA district is set to expand into this spring: https://columbusunderground.com/downtown-franklinton-dora-on-track-for-spring-launch-we1/ That whole area of downtown could look a lot different in 5-6 years when the construction is finally (hopefully) wrapped up). All that would remain is that triangular Savko lot located across the RR tracks from the stadium.
NRI also owns some of the land south of Nationwide Blvd across from the stadium which they have discussed developing in the not-too-distant future. They also own the land bound by Spring, Hannover, Nationwide, and the railroad tracks and have discussed building a ~20 story residential tower on some of the vacant property there. I think 10 years from now the area will be totally unrecognizable.
So how long before the Monorail loop from the AD to Franklinton to COSI to Broad & High to the Short North to the AD? Vision, people, vision.
The new plan is for two fields, end to end, running along Black & Gold,, perpendicular to the existing practice fields. Turf not grass. They want them in before the ASG.
Seeing rumors that there will be some food option changes at the LDC. Reddit reporting Condado is in and Dos Hermanos is gone. I only eat dos hermanos at the game since the Smokehouse thing left. It was a reliably GF option too.
Sad to read. The street tacos were just the right amount for me to eat before the game. Condado has a lot of menu options. Will be interesting how many make it into LDC.
Yeah, I was thinking that myself. Not exactly the ideal "build your own custom taco" environment. I'll presumably stick to my pre-match Hofbrauhaus routine, supplemented with the occasional Hot Chicken Takeover in-stadium "splurge" when I'm feeling generous (or just plain hungry). I'm a terrible fan when it comes to spending $$ in-stadium.
Did they gut part of the press box? This is the new press level party suite. And are thise new sign boards?
There was much consternation about the public use of the plaza on the east side of the stadium and how often it would be used. Today the Special Olympics Ohio held their Polar Plunge on that plaza with Crew mascots in attendance along with having the Pub open for drinks. I wonder if the moron from the Dispatch, Bob Bush I think his name is, approves of this use of the public portion of the complex.
Condado taking over the Pub... Condado restaurant moving into Lower.com Field's pub space - Columbus Business First (bizjournals.com) Inside will look like other Condados. The bartender at the one in my building told me about today about an hour before the press release. She and others from area restaurants will be staffing it on game day.
It’s very trendy to hate on Condado. It’s alright. Good margaritas. Tacos are just ok. I like the decor. I’d rather have a Condado at LDC than just a regular old pub.
I think it has greatly declined in quality from when it opened same with bario. Heard dos hermanos is out (guessing exclusivity clause). Dos hermanos, Los Guachos all better but different vibes.
The Wife and the Kids are big fans of Condados. I like it—good stuff; not too expensive. I can’t imagine though that the stadium would be ok with their funky artwork though.
