If I were to take the # 2 bus down High Street, it's only about 500 ft. shorter to walk fro the bus stop on High to the stadium, than it will be to walk from walk from Hofbrauhaus. Hmmmmm... I wonder how they'll feel about people parking there if they spend some $$ on beer before the match.
I don't know about clamoring. I know it has been a topic since I moved to town 30 years ago. I believe it has gone up for a vote what, twice? in that time frame? Shot down both times? I could be wrong on going up for vote to the public, however. Last time it failed Graceland owner threw a fit and turned it into a desolate wasteland. Finally, I think he got tired of losing money and rehab'd the joint to get some tenants (10 years ago?) Recently I hear rent is going up and several businesses are pulling up stakes. An apartment/condo of some type is going up back in the corner beside the gym and the Kroger.
I found this: https://www.dispatch.com/news/20190...trail-to-close-for-3-weeks-as-part-of-upgrade Unsure if this is what is being referred to, however.
I'm 90% sure that's a project to connect the Olentangy Trail under 315 to Bethel and points west. Not to connect it east over the river to Beechwold.
Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Appears to be done now. I'm personally unfamiliar with any groundswell of public support for a Morse-Bethel connector (for cars). It's actually a steady, but pretty minor, inconvenience for me. Then again, parking at Bob's Bar is already challenging enough as it is. Also, it's not exactly a small point to note that a pedestrian or bike bridge costs a few million dollars. The Main St bridge, by comparison, when built a decade ago, cost sixty million. I mean, you don't just commit to projects like that on a whim. Not to mention, installing one where there's no preexisting road connections, like off of West Nationwide or the Scioto Peninsula to Arena District span that's being considered, would presumably require millions, maybe tens of millions, in associated roadwork.
At Morse-Bethel, the connections are there (it was built that way ca. 1980). But they'll never be used. All it takes is a NIMBY lawyer or two.
...and Bill Bush is at it again.... He again conflates the pedestrian bridge with the Crew project. Look I get folks having an issue with stadium projects. But the Dogpatch keeps telling us how they are doing good journalism--yet one of their lead writers keeps lying about this. I guess he thinks if he keeps saying it folks will believe him. Sadly, he's probably right. Next thing you know he'll be tying the 70/71 interchange rebuild into this, stating that "it is being done to get people to the stadium".
It also widened the trail at a very narrow and straight stretch, which is awesome since I can get to > 25mph if there's no one around...
I'll have to wait a few years, but I'm really looking forward to the new bike/pedestrian bridges that'll keep you from having to cut through a chunk of Clintonville at Northmoor Park/WN Broadway. You'll still need to cross WN Broadway at grade, at a stop light, but it'll be dramatically better and safer (for both drivers and bikers) than what exists now.
Wait. What? So the bridge they built wasn't really a new bridge, just expanding the already in place Bethel Bridge over 315? I've seen cranes down by the river, and Google Maps has a dirt road going into the river where I thought they were making the bridge. I really thought it was to connect the Olentangy Trail to locals on the east side of the river. There is no biking on Bethel. What/Who was this made for? And again I'm not against people bridges, but I don't like it when they are built where car bridges logically can be placed. Why not have both.It cost ~5 Million for a People bridge. ~8 Million for a Car bridge, and ~8.5 Million to do both. When it makes sense give me both please.
Not that anyone cares, but according to my Fitbit synced with WeightWatchers, the walk from the Hofbrauhaus to the Stadium earns an extra half liter of beer.

I had a long argument yesterday - our wives rolled their eyes and wandered off- about the Lamar Hunt statue. I know that virtually no one agrees with me about the old crook, but I think the statue should be crated up and shipped to Clark Hunt. Alternatively, and I think it's what they'll actually do, they should leave it where it is. My friend insists that it should be moved to the new place. I just dont want any whiff of the farking Hunts stinking up our place. If Clarkie the downs syndrome victim rapist (yes, yes, "alleged") doesnt honor his father, why the hell should we?
I walked by the statue yesterday, and actually started the same thought process in my head, although I didn't dwell on it. I tend to agree that the statue should stay where it is. I don't like punishing Lamar's legacy because his kids turned out to be weasels (I have no idea what the Down's Syndrome thing is about), but Crew Stadium #1 (MAPFRE) is his legacy for us. He has nothing to do with the new stadium. Bringing the statue to the new stadium doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.
One does not just walk into the Cultural Hub of the midwest. https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/6tDAHew9VEDyvsVKnNRzXm.jpg
So was anyone else approached by a well-scrubbed earnest young person out on the Plaza about making an appointment to meet with a ticket rep at the Experience Center? I got hit up twice but it was so loud that I didn't actually follow what they were saying and the little cards they were handing out didn't shed much light on it.
One issue I have with the Plaza area is that the music is too loud for any conversation (this is occasionally the case at Blue Jacket games--but is inconsistent). So I miss stuff.
