Put 100 kids in a room - Put all of their parents in another room, let those parents decide which 2-3 kids die... Dr. Oz just made the argument that we should reopen schools because *only* 2-3% of kids will die. pic.twitter.com/yKaHEybZqj— Read Let This Radicalize You (@JoshuaPHilll) April 16, 2020
This nugget from the Rolling Stone article. Why is the administration not taking over the supply chain? “It’s because they’re getting pressure from the Chamber of Commerce to stay out of the marketplace so that the profiteering can continue,” Murphy says. The chamber, which represents some of the nation’s biggest corporations, has lobbied against the Defense Production Act because it claims it would unreasonably disrupt the supply chain during the crisis. (The chamber did not respond to a request for comment.) “The administration has decided to put the profits of these companies ahead of saving lives,” he says.
Murphy's law.....or perhaps the glitch is the Trump hideous signature. Glitches prevent $1,200 stimulus checks from reaching millions of Americans Several million people who filed their taxes via H&R Block, TurboTax and other popular services were unable to get their payments. Some parents reported they didn’t get the $500 promised for their dependent children. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/04/16/coronavirus-cares-stimulus-check/
I’ve used H&R Block since at least 2004. I still had to go to the IRS site and input my bank routing/acct numbers. *no dependents
It's fascinating... watching from Italy I see everything happened here replayed with some weeks of delay. Everything. At the end of March our national system crashed when hundreds of thousands (or maybe millions) of people tried to access it to get their "bonus Covid-19 emergency" money. The agency (and the minister) called a non-existent "hacker-attack" to justify the crash. The truth is that few systems so far were designed to support this amount of accesses (and many systems are even obsolete: it was here that the fact that COBOL programmers were searched was mentioned?). But what strikes me the most is that everything that happened in Italy is happening the same way (or worse) with some weeks of delay in USA. Maybe part of this is basically an unavoidable script of this outbreak (what can you really do in a few days to upgrade a system to support hundreds of thousands more accesses than it was designed for?), but maybe there were some areas where something better could have been done, based on the example of the countries that were ahead of the timeline, couldn't it?
Wow... 76 million students in the U.S. If you take the lower number that's only 1.5 million children dead.— Michael de Adder (@deAdder) April 16, 2020
He didn't say the 2-3% would be the kids. That's the 2nd tweet you've posted that didn't say what it said it said. I don't like being "well, actually" guy. I hate "well, actually" guys. But...well, actually.
The kids would be disease vectors. 2-3% of the American population is about 8 million people. Ain't no ********ing way society functions if 8,000,000 people die from this virus over the next, say, 18 months.
Germany has the leadership we wish we could have. But good thing we are winning! https://qz.com/1839030/angela-merke...transmission-works/?utm_source=YPL&yptr=yahoo
There was also the issue of stagnation - Threads with huge reply counts also tended to stay at the top and not allow other threads to get notice.
Holy ********ing shit. I cant believe what Steve Moore just said. He said America needs to re open their businesses tomorrow. I think hes on the re open America task force too. The chaos and carnage that would inflict on hospitals is beyond imagination. I know the economic devastation is horrendous but seriously?
Someone had a list of doctors that were better than Dr. Oz. It included Dr Dre, Dr Strange, Dr Doom, Dr Who, Dr Quinn, Dr Detroit, Dr Teeth, etc.
