It's possible that it was me. On the Trump-tweets thread I was extremely harsh with him (with a reason, I guess).

Still not sure what his exact motivations were.

Wow. Made it. Living on the left coast can slow things down.

You are incorrect sir. It was over on Easter Sunday. That's why people is protesting for fertilizer and hair salons in Michigan and North Carolina.

How Some Rich Americans Are Getting Stimulus ‘Checks’ Averaging $1.7 Million
    Shahar ZivContributor

I teach students and grads how to ace their personal finances.

    A $1.7 million stimulus check?

While wealthy Americans are not eligible for the comparatively measly $1,200 stimulus checks that are now being disbursed to many Americans, they are on pace to do even better. 43,000 taxpayers, who earn more than $1 million annually, are each set to receive a $1.7 million windfall, on average, thanks to a provision buried in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Nursing homes continue to get hammered

The call for body bags came late Saturday.

By Monday, the police in a small New Jersey town had gotten an anonymous tip about a body being stored in a shed outside one of the state’s largest nursing homes.

When the police arrived, the corpse had been removed from the shed, but they discovered 17 bodies piled inside the nursing home in a small morgue intended to hold no more than four people.

“They were just overwhelmed by the amount of people who were expiring,” said Eric C. Danielson, the police chief in Andover, a small township in Sussex County, the state’s northernmost county.

The 17 were among 68 recent deaths linked to the long-term care facility, Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation Center I and II, including two nurses, officials said. Of those who died, 26 people had tested positive for the virus.

I wonder about those unemployment numbers. The filing system is broken in VA, we know it's a catastrophe in Florida. Does that mean the number of unemployed we see in the headlines is vastly understated? Cuz if the real number over the last 4 weeks isn't 22 million but much worse, if it's, say, 30 million, we are ********ed.

Because of my job I just found out that people can't get through in VA right now. The rental market is going to go berserk when May rents come due; April wasn't that bad. Point being, the headlines are almost certainly significantly understating the economic dislocation. If I played the casino, I'd go short in the stock market.

“Stories, messages” like this should flood the county around October without let up. Videos of Trumps talking points, contradictions and projections to remind everyone of why family friends and neighbours died for Trumps ignorance and incompetence. Remind people why many are still out of work.

Can giggers even file if they're technically "independent contractors"? IIRC California was trying to classify them as W2 employees

I think when he talks about "bridge liquidity" he means until the UI checks start arriving.

I hope that is what he meant. Otherwise, his nanny is massively underpaid.

I opened the Guardian today and right there among the pictures of frontline people taken away from the virus, I saw the picture of the acquaintance I mentioned a couple of weeks ago with a nice tribute. This really hits me again. He was a gregarious dude with a huge heart.
Keep those frontline heros, those who lost their life and those fighting every day in your thoughts.

Dr. Verrier? Sounded like a great dude helping others all over. Why he's gone and Trump's still here makes me angry.

My Brit Para Reg Facebook page had a send off for one of one of the most popular guys ever. He’d devoted all of his spare time to raising money for the fallen warrior cause and to troopers down on their luck.
Over 800 photos of guys saying fairwell, from WW2 vets on through to Ahghanistan, must have given Facebook pause.
    Never forget.

This piece of shit better lawyer up...........

Jerry Falwell Jr.’s angry counteroffensive against critics of his decision to invite Liberty University students back to its Lynchburg, Va., campus after spring break has played out in the media, the courts, even with the campus police,” the New York Times reports.
“But his campaign has been undermined by the spread of a virus he cannot control.”
“Since March 29, when the first case was diagnosed in a Liberty student living off-campus, confirmed coronavirus cases in the Central Virginia health district, which surrounds Lynchburg and Liberty, have grown from seven to 78. One person has died.”

Either way, it will be 30 million soon enough. The U.S. won't be reopening in any real way for at least the next month, and that will blow at least another 10 million jobs out of the water, as companies stop carrying those employees on their payrolls.
