A 'situation' that's quickly turning into a 'saga'... From some recent Women's Fans threads & UK/Ireland thread:

    July:
    September:
    October:
This was the letter in full...
"Together, with the Premier League and EFL, we will get fans safely back into grounds"

Nice sentiment, but is it misguided? Even irresponsible? There's some not-so-hidden politics in the letter (which is officially addressed to football fans). The soccer authorities want to put public pressure on the UK government, which said fans were unlikely to return to British sporting events for months, and the gov't announced other measures which have also been unpopular.

The leagues' passion to get fans back is understandable, but is also surely influenced by money; either running out of it (smaller clubs/EFL), or having to give some away (PL).

While this argument goes on in October, the UK's coronavirus case-load is rising again, including one day with over 20,000 new cases. (That one was a calculating error, but it's still very worrying!)
