Didn't they teeter very close to bankruptcy about 15 years ago? Their original base jumped ship a long time ago; I'd guess that Gap Kids has kept them afloat (because the clothes are cute and the fact that they fall apart in a month isn't that critical since the kids outgrow them)
From an ethics and social point of view, that $1.2M benefits Fisher a teeny tiny part of his assets while the loss to Oakland & Alameda County probably harms thousands of their people.
I can't feel sorry for a billionaire or sad if Gap goes under. They aren't the first company to own a market and let it slip away -- lots of other examples in the Bay Area. I thought this was interesting though, and it is Quakes-related because it's about the Fisher founders, John's parents. https://www.theculturecrush.com/fall-into-the-gap/
Thanks! Good post, and you’re right, or at least, your thinking aligns with mine. Go Quakesfans!! - Mark
I don’t know who these people are, but they’ve created a website with info on how to open safely We built a website with an array of resources that we will keep adding to. @ebarson of @USofCare also contributed to the letter & put together significant resources for states, workplaces & the public. 18/https://t.co/tM9EbASnhD.— Andy Slavitt 🇮🇱 🇺🇦 (@ASlavitt) May 21, 2020 And they reference another website that is tracking states’ readiness to open safely And we’ve provided the ability to continually track progress at how states #OpenSafely. 19/https://t.co/tNVNRGEh1u— Andy Slavitt 🇮🇱 🇺🇦 (@ASlavitt) May 21, 2020

This is pretty big news if true: https://www.businesstoday.in/latest...of-getting-sick-finds-study/story/404800.html
I don't think this changes much. It says 11 days after being sick. What defines being sick, is that a positive Covid-19 result? Can a person be contagious and not be considered sick. This article just seems to confirm the quarantine rules of being isolated for 14 after exposure.
Wondering the same. Days from being infected? If they know when that is, which thanks to lack of contact tracing in the US, we don't.
If this doesn’t convince people of the need to stay SIP, and how healthcare workers are sacrificing themselves for the common good, nothing will. I read this as positive for reinfection specifically. People might continue to test positive but aren't getting it again (as well as not spreading it).
Besides Japanese culture of wearing masks when ill, the language itself is soft-spoken, so could mean less droplets. I realized they didn’t point out that japanese culture is to cover mouth when laughing. That probably helps too 📺 A theory on why Japan was able to contain the coronavirus outbreak... according to TBS pic.twitter.com/9d0cIxvS1X— Kurumi Mori (@rumireports) May 21, 2020
There is another factor that makes a lot of sense to me. My Dad told me he watched a TV news report that said people who wore masks in combination with eyeglasses had a lower infection rate. The conclusion was wearing a mask and glasses in public helped protect you from touching your face. Smearing the virus around your nose/mouth or eyes was the most likely cause of infection. This means that wearing gloves probably doesn’t help much without a mask because you’d still touch your face with germs.
https://apple.news/AgxoYLM_rRpKv28SNLijtMA World Health Organization decides to pause testing of hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 treatment because of increased danger of heart problems. So maybe the state Governors that were reluctant to allow patients to be treated with it were right to be cautious? Even Trump announced on Sunday that he has stopped taking it.

United States deaths are projected to reach well over 200,000 by September. I'm surprised anyone is still estimating 120,000. From what I see, western Europe is over the hump. Now the eastern European countries and worse, Mexico and South America are going to get hit. In a parallel universe, we're almost halfway through the season, having lost to Montreal on Saturday.
I can only believe he stopped taking/completed it after I believe he actually took it to begin with, which I don't.
I think he took it, just to prove a (stupid) point. Republicans do this thing they like to call double-down. And, led by their birther-in-chief, they can never and will never admit they're wrong - it's considered a sign of weakness. so, no matter how idiotic the idea, trump has to double down. he took the non-approved medicine to make a point: "see, I'm still here, still no covid, I was right all along" even though he's tested everyday and so is everyone who comes within 50 feet of him.
