Everybody knows that Costa Rica is not having a good time, we have had a lot of bad results lately, but *(very important...)* COSTA RICA is always a serious Kontender in GC's

We'll be there with, what i call, i C+ team, its defently not our top team, not even a B teams, but some important players will also be there

    This is our ultimate roster:

    Goalkeepers
Álvaro Mesén, José Francisco Porras y Donny Grant.
    Defenders
Michael Umaña, Víctor Cordero, Gabriel Badilla y Mauricio Wright Junior Díaz, Harold Wallace y Roy Miller.
    Midfielders
Jafet Soto, José Luis López, Danny Fonseca, Geiner Segura, Douglas Sequeira, Steven Bryce y Cristian Bolaños.
    Forwards
Óscar Rojas, Bryan Ruiz y Randall Brenes

    Good points about our team
    • A lot of fresh blood, players like Umana,Brenes, riuz, Bolanos, Badilla are getting their caps
    • Bryan Ruiz was supposed to go to Netherlands, cause a couple of teams have showed interst on him, but he decided to play this GC
    • Everybody is underestimating this team, so we can surprise.

    Bad points about our team
    • NO marin, centeno, Gomez, solis, Wanchope, Parks. We are missing most of our quality players.
    • Why calling our 2 best goalies, either Porras or Mesn should have stayed here, Wardy alfaro is waiting for his first oportunity and he surely deserve it
    • Only 3 forwards...mmm...no-no...actually it's only ruiz, cause Brenes and Rojas are like wings.

Hey MoRado, who do you think Costa Rica will start and what do you consider to be their best team?

There's some big names missing, but this team doesn't look that depleated.

Two first choice keepers and aren't Mauricio Wright, Harold Wallace, José Luis López, Danny Fonseca, Jafet Soto, Steven Bryce and Cristian Bolaños at least squad players. I know most of those guys at least were dressed against Canada in the qualifiers and Bolaños and Soto started your last WCQ

Of course I know next to nothing about most of the others (except Umana and Sequiera), so are they that far off the radar that this is a C team?

I think you should finish second without too much difficulty, but we shall see.

    cheers,
    hobbes

i found some mistakes in your post.....
Danny fonseca has only played in the Uncaf tournament, you might be thinking on Rolando Fonseca
Crhistian bolanos is 20 years old, he has 3 games with the nat'l team.
Goalkeepers, wright, wallace, Sequeira, Lopez, soto and Bryce are the only A players
The rest of them have 0-10 official games

    WALLACE****************************DIAZ
    ************SEQUEIRA*****LOPEZ*********
    **************************************

Firstly thanks a bunch for the lineup speculation and the info on the team.

I thought it was Danny, not Rolando who was in the 18-man roster for both Canada-Costa Rica matches. According to http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/t/mr/mr38005.html Danny Fonseca played in the match at Saprissa Stadium. Maybe they got it wrong?

And I saw that Bolanos had started against Guatemala and figured he must be in good form to play in such an important game, but I had no idea he was so young or had so few caps. Good to know.

    Again cheers for the info,
    hobbes

They will have an easy win over Canada to start the tournament and should beat Cuba for two wins, enough
to get them into the second stage.

Well, maybe they have it wrong, or maybe he did play a few minutes, but he has only 8 official games.
Bolanos has only 4 games (Norway, Guatemala, china (twice))
He is one our young top prospects, he might be going to the MFL next year (PUMAS maybe)
    cheers!

Costa Rica should finish second pretty easily. They would then play the first place team from group A, which would probably be Colombia. That would a tough game. If they got past that, then there would likely be a USA-Costa Rica rematch in the semifinal.

but reading this article on Sportsya, makes me think the DT is still not sure what his 'A' squad will be and is using this tourney as a real fine tuning...

04-07 | 13:09 hs.

It seems the only team which is in s**** 's creek is South Africa. Unbelievable that their federation wouldn't almost force their top players to show up, considering they are the next WC hosts!

knowing that maybe some teams are missing some big guns, is this a pretty solid competitive CR team in your eyes?

Colombia plays Panama today? I'm curious, what do you guys see as Panama's strengths/weaknesses? Who's their best player?
