Trumpers trumping This morning a White House official referred to #Coronavirus as the “Kung-Flu” to my face. Makes me wonder what they’re calling it behind my back.— Weijia Jiang (@weijia) March 17, 2020
"Republican fiscal responsibility" means, and has ALWAYS meant (at least since 1981) screwing poor people, screwing regular people and allowing businesses to make as much money as possible. This is why I cannot understand why anyone who is not wealthy would be a Republican anymore.
A starting point indeed. I know that for a lot of people, the money will matter. Those are the people whose jobs are going away because of the decrease in activity. An extra $1000 in the bank account will allow them to afford, oh, an extra half a month's rent. That isn't going to address being out of work for six months or more because nobody is hiring, but it's better than nothing. But one other thing they'll want to spend their money on is food. You can't eat money. Some thought needs to go into how we're gonna keep everyone fed when now, we can't keep the stores stocked, and later, people can't go where the food is.
The triage: health care workers and first responders. Everyone else, go home, sorry. Which is probably how it should be.
More like the MRE president, because everyone will be depending on their weekly delivery from the state. Which, now that I think about it, is a ridiculous notion. No way a Trump-run program could possibly be that organized.
So you don't cook, you let the red head do the woman's chores. Got it. I was hoping we could swap recipes.
Congrats. Can I suggest you name your baby, if a boy, Boris. If a girl, Corona. Which leads to the question, was it peer reviewed? From Brummie's announcement to Columbine and 9/11 to McVeigh, and now this. Man, that really took a dark turn. I'm about a generation older...that was my grandparents.
You need to account for the stupid who, if not for Dem regulations, believe they will become wealthy. And the stupid who think Dems will collect all of their guns.
The U;S. daily count is double what it was 2 days ago, which is double what it was 2 days before, which is double what it was two days before. I think most of you know enough math to know that already large number (1228 so far today) that doubles every two days, will be a very big number indeed should this trend continue for very long. But in case you don't have a strong sense of how doubling works, that rate would lead to 160,000 daily new cases by March 31st. I am assuming that will not happen ...
It is likely the story is moving so fast because the tremendous lack of preparation and poor/false guidance given from the Federal Government. Had there been good preparation, we would have understood possible treatments and side effects, both short term and long term, must sooner. Hell, the way the Obama administration dealt with Ebola when it reached the US was a really good testament to both extreme seriousness and not panicking.
I think the biggest part is not paying attention. If you sat Arkansas voters down and showed how Tom Cotton cut back on coronavirus sick leave benefits for working families, so that he could get in business tax credits, my guess is that most of them would not approve. But you cannot get that audience. They don't watch shows that tell them such things, don't hear from people with that message.
I found this, which is...I was gonna say fun, but it's not really that... Find your state: Most Aggressive States Against the Coronavirus https://wallethub.com/edu/most-aggressive-states-against-coronavirus/72307/
I think the South is gonna be trouble. Florida cases have grown from 20 to 190 in one week, Georgia and Louisiana have similar numbers, and they're only now starting to get serious about the problem.
Not me. I'm the self-sacrificing tip of the food distribution spear in direct contact with the common and sometimes ill people. I'm government recognized as vital to the well-being of everyone. Well... today I'm putting wrappers on potted plants. But usually I'm that spear guy.
The first (sorta) red state on the list is Ohio, at 12th. Among the 15 least aggressive states, Nevada and Hawaii are the only blue states, the rest are red. This country politicizes everything these days. Even a ********ing disease.
What's reassuring is that MS is right on the bottom (actually 1 from the bottom) just like they are for everything else.
Nope - we split - who starts it depends on who get's home first, though the kids tend to want to get started these days since they're capable. Any recipe I share with you, you'll need the poison control number for
Oklahoma's doubled overnight, including a state senator's staffer. Which means, they're all getting tested now and half of them probably had contact with the staffer and/or the governor who was running around in public the other night.
So do I. However cases will rise so fast in the next month it's going to be mind boggling, that I admit to. How long can we socially distance from each other remains to be seen. Here where i live 95% of business have shut down. I went out for a leisurely two hour walk in my neighborhood and there was a ton of people doing the same thing. We're not socializing or gathering but enjoying fresh air and exercise I wonder if that is still permissible..
