Hmm. Group 3 and 6 look a bit complicated, an 4 could be a tough group too. I'm liking this ball better than the previous ones.

They also said that players, referees and CONMEBOL officials will use a patch in Libertadores matches.

Think that Vacante 3, could end up being another argentine or a brazilian team. Also according the different versions there are no chances that the 3 "vacant" spots would go to a non-southamerican side.

I missed that part a bit but maybe it'll be a sleeve patch like in the other continental cups and the Club World Cup.

Liga just had some injuries to key players and we was going through a transition when we lost the best South American player in Joffre Guerron. But we are strong again and we will be the team to beat again. :D

El ganador de esa llave va estar en un grupo liviano en comparacion de los restos.

Tambien parece que todos los chunchos van estar enchufados en la Interliga mexicana.

So whats going to happen with Peru's vacant spots? Is there any formal annoncement? Will they have time to get their stuff fixed? Or will they be given to some of the teams in the qualifying rounds?

    Re: Copa Libertadores 2009

The fair thing to do, in my opinion, would be to give the 3rd vacant Perú spot to the winner of the Sudamericana 2008 and the other 2 vacant spots to be played for by the 6 losers of the preliminary round. If CONMEBOL were to give the spots out via invitation it would hurt the credibility of this years Libertadores.

Brazil and Argentina already have too many spots in Libertadores so I think isn convinient to give them those spots. Those spots should been given to countries like Colombia, Chile or Ecuador.

    Re: Copa Libertadores 2009

Remember that this year Ecuador has an extra spot because an ecuadorean club is the title holder(2 to the groups stage and 2 to the qualifying rounds).

Also remember that of the 3 spots 2 are to the groups stage and 1 for the qualifying round. Maybe they should give'em to either Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile.

It seems that it'll be unlikely that they'll invite anyone to the cup what they'll do in December once FIFA has their meeting in Tokyo, they'll pick 3 of the 9 countries randomly and give them the spots, then it'll be up to the countries to decide how to assign those spots.

    Re: Copa Libertadores 2009

Uruguay has already announced that if the drawing between the countries happens, it will choose PENAROL!

Although were already in the preliminary stage, it would be helpful to move up. That still gives you 3 more spots. Just all in the preliminary round, with Penarol's spot which cant go to Colombia, since we're do to play Colombia.

With this, every country gets an advantage

    Re: Copa Libertadores 2009

    Had a quick question ;
When will the missing teams be filled ? I know the vacant 3 spots are for Peru, but when will we be able to know the rest of the Argentinian , Brazil, Paraguay , Uruguay and Colombian teams ?
I know that Mexico uses the Interliga, so San Luis plus 2, and I know that in Argentina will be River, Lanus, Boca, and 2 more by end of december , but I am not very familiar with the rest.
ANyone can give some more info ?
    tnx a bunch

    Re: Copa Libertadores 2009

The other argentine sides will be known in about 10 days, when the Apertura finishes. By the time being it's Lanús and River. Boca got enough points compared to the rest to be qualified(although their exact place is yet to be definied). The other 2 are the ones to be definied in the meantime it would be San Lorenzo and Estudiantes(who would play the qualifying round)

-If Tigre wins the championship, then Tigre would qualify as "Argentina 3", Boca would be "Argentina 4" and San Lorenzo would be the one playing the qualifying round(Estudiantes would not qualify).

-If San Lorenzo gets the championship, they would be "Argentina 3", Boca would be "Argentina 4" and Estudiantes to the qualifying round.

-If Boca is the champion then they'll be "Argentina 3", San Lorenzo would be "Argentina 4" and Estudiantes to the qualifying round.

The only chance for Tigre to qualify is if they are crowned the champions, if they don't get the championship then they should await for one of the vacant spots to be assigned to Argentina.

We'll know the brazilian clubs this weekend (Sao Paulo looks like will be BRASIL 1, and Gremio BRASIL 2).

Palmeiras, Cruzeiro and Flamengo gonna fight for 2 spots.

And we'll know CHILE 2 on December 20th (Cobreloa, Colo-Colo, Palestino and Rangers are playing semifinals).

    Yep.

SPFC, the 2009 Brazilian champion, is Brasil 1. Gremio, who came in 2nd place, is Brasil 2. Cruzeiro is Brasil 3 and Palmeiras is going to dispute a spot with a team from Bolivia. Flamengo is out.

Sport Recife, winners of the 2009 Copa do Brasil, are the other representative from Brasil. Palmeiras will most probably qualify as they have a solid squad and a very good coach.
