Wednesday in Tenerife... I Expect to see a lineup similar to that in the previous copa match, with a few faces from Real Madrid B, and Owen and Morientes up top. Pavon didn't train today (he was with the physios with a slight knock), and Samuel is just coming back from injury, so not sure who will be the centerbacks.

    edit: Lineup according to As

    Cesar
    Arbeloa Helguera Mejia Raul Bravo
    Javi Garcia Borja Celades Solari
    Morientes Owen

I've still got nightmares of this team :(

Luckily times have changed, and now there's only the chance that they take the Copa away from us :D but I have a good feeling about this game.

Real hope to end jinx on 'cursed island'

MADRID, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Real Madrid head to the scene of some bitter memories this week when they travel to the Canary Islands to play second division Tenerife in the King's Cup.

In the early 1990s Tenerife, then in the Primera Liga, twice deprived Real of the league title by dealing them a season-ending defeat that handed first place to arch-rivals Barcelona.

Now Tenerife, dubbed the "Cursed Island" for Real Madrid by newspaper Marca, are keen to see history repeated.

i worry about this game, tenerife arent like the last team we played, and we only beat them 2-0
the game is away and i think it will be very difficult

mabe i am overworrying because after all the team we put out will always posses alot of quality

out of interest, does a draw mean a replay, ET or pens?

I've only just heard of 2 chances for Madrid, the latter being the biggest when Morientes gave the pass to Owen who missed a dot of a chance according to Cadena Ser.

Still a lot of time left for duo MorOwen :D

And a penalty for Madrid coming up!

What a strange turn of events.....Owen misses a clear cut shot.......Moro misses a penalty.......Tenerife scores......then Madrid scores a minute later. Whew!

Things not going too well for many teams from the Primera it seems, hopefully Madrid won't be next, and pick up the pace a little in the 2nd half.

Real Madrid has to keep a solid defense and score some goals in the second half...

    60th minute

Bravo kicks the ball out because Owen is lying on the floor after a hard entrance (which wasn't called) hopefully it isn't too serious.
