why invite 4 concacaf contries? only one thats is good is mexico.... the othere ones r jokes... and if the US doesnt take the tournie seriously they r going to do worse than they did in teh WC... Group C would be good tho Mexico and Uruguay for 2nd would be good fight... every other group is basically called.... Colombia and venezuela for a, Brasil y Chile for b, D is Paraguay... and the 1st team out of of the final 8 haha

As said in other forums, there are three categories of teams in South America.

    World Class: Brazil and Argentina
Competitors: Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador.
    Wanna-bes: Venezuela, Peru and Bolivia.

From Concacaf there are only three teams of similar level to the competitors in USA, Mexico and Costa Rica. The rest of this federation is basically roadkill when confronted with their SA peers. Not to say that some of the teams are not improving, but that really they do not have much chances of make an impact in this hypothetical competition.

My point: I do not see how Trinidad, Panama, Guatemala or Honduras are going to affect or even make more interesting our competition.

From your hypothetical Group A it is difficult to see other teams than Venezuela and Colombia comming ahead.
From Group B: Brasil and Ecuador have the best chances.
Group C would be the Group of Death, but I would pick Uruguay to advance along with Argentina.
Group D would produce Paraguay and given the lattest results probably Panama.

Out of 6 berths to Concacaf having only one team comming trough and in this scenario probably facing Argentina in the 2nd round, I do not see what is the benefit of bringing more teams than the usual 2, that really add some spice to the tournament and have a better chance of advancing in a 12 team tournament.

Canada has actually improved a lot and they'll keep improving over the years, futbol is slowly taking over in North America. The truth though is that neither Canada or Panama would get to the semis, let alone the quarters.

Anyone know if Portugal And Spain are still possibilities? truth is that those 2 would definately stir up the competition but I doubt they would be able to come.

if portugal and spain joined the copa america, would be the final straw

it was pathetic enough to have Japan there

Leoz and his boys care only for money

actually the only reason i see Portugal and Spain in the Copa is because their cultural ties to the continent which doesnt make it that bad i think. Now Japan thats a different story.

its just as bad...simple reason they are not in our confederation

its bad enough we allow mexico and some other team...

would be nice to have something just for our confederation, i thought the Sudamericana would be that, but once again Leoz and co sold us out

I know, i know, off course copa america should be just for conmebol I feel the same way, but if we are gonna invite teams from other confederations we might as well invite good teams like portugal and spain instead of not so good countries like panama and costa rica.

I hope I'm wrong too, but realistically, we haven't got a prayer.

God forbid both Brazil and Argentina are in our theoretical group....

Well, both Brazil and Argentina are top seeds, along with Venezuela (cabezas de serie). So, they shouldn't be in the same group.
