Isn't Johann Smith playing for Bolton reserves, too? I think the boards have kind of forgotten about him.

But he appears to have seen time in most reserve matches this year, so I'd guess he will see time tonight. That means possibly 3 -- or 2.5 -- Yanks on the pitch at the same time.

This site -- http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s474/st86590.htm -- has the last match report from December 6:

That's been the story with Smith so far. Match reports often mention him as creating danger or coming close to scoring. But hasn't happened yet. He's only 18 so it's a good sign he's getting a lot of playing time with the reserves as opposed to one of the youth squads. My guess is he's got another year or two with the reserves.

I heard they were trying to play him as a forward. His lack of scoring could indicate that may not be his best position. But like you say, it's nice that he seems to be getting regular action.

This is Man U's last reserve game of the year....looks like Ole Gunner and Rossi will start up front.

Is Cooper coming home for a break or does he have "business" to attend to?

Johann played really well in this game, he created many opportunties for his team but had no help.He was one of the top 2 players on the field tonight and gave the ManU defenders a really tough time.At times there were 2/3 defendrs covering him and he still managed to get by them,Bolton had several free kicks as a result of the ManU defenders taking down Smith .Kenny Cooper came on midway in the second half but did not see much of the ball.Rossi had a decent game and was subbed in the second half.I was impressed with Smith's game.

It's always a plus when you're getting regular action.

Even before qualies start, there will be opportunities with the U-20 team. I would be surprised if he wasn't a starter for the next US U-20 team.

We are going to have a lot of pros on that team. A lot.

I loved watching qualies in Hershey a few years back, I hope I get the chance again. With NY finally getting that stadium I just might in the future.
