He was the one in the 3rd minute right?

He got both the “it’s too early” and “well it’s too late” get out of jail cards.

Very uninspiring match with a weak performance by the referee that contributed to the overall poor display.

Any thoughts about only 3 minutes 2nd half added time, with 2 goal celebrations and the Davies injury?

    I was expecting 5 or 6, but I'm a US fan, LOL.

It felt light to me, too. The injury felt that long, plus subs/goals. *Shrug.*

The lack of the correct added time was at the bottom of the list of the shortcomings of this referee.
Certainly one of the weakest and inadequate I can ever remember seeing in a CONCACAF WCQ match. The advantage call was a complete exception.

This was a huge contrast to many of the very strong CONCACAF officials we have seen over the past 40-50 years, from several different countries, not just Mexico. What has happened?

He's 30 years old and that was his first WCQ match. Now whether he should be Jamaica's #1 so soon is worth discussing, but it's hard to say that match wasn't officiated how B Hall seems to want.

Sad to hear, but he wasn't ready for this level.
BTW, B Hall was a very strong referee and definitely would not have refereed that match this way.

Any opinions from those who follow these things as to what the US should expect from Hernandez & team tonight?

I thought he was excellent in his GC QF. Absolute night and day from Ramos, Guerrero, et al.

Being optimistic and hopeful, it can't be any worse than what we saw in the Canada match....or can it?

It's gonna be a classic CONCACAF second half. Honduras is gonna pull out all the stops to get a famous victory.

Bruce Arena's stupid "hotshot European teams come to CONCACAF and get a taste of our world cup qualifying" was, obviously, pretty stupid and absurd.

Especially, considering the World Cup has basically turned into a glorified European Championship.

But there may be no tougher World Cup qualifying matches to referee than in CONCACAF especially when the opposition is the US or Mexico.

How did the referee come up with only 3+ minutes of stoppage time in the first half.

I counted 6+ minutes of injury stoppages alone.....

He seems to very much subscribe to the “possession is advantage” philosophy. It’s come close to getting him in trouble once or twice. And it’s ensured there have been almost no dangerous attacking free kicks.

Honduras successfully kicked Pulisic out of the game. Great.

At some point when you try to dribble though six people you're going to get kicked.

This is Escobaresque in the approach to misconduct, though.

    Let's be fair, it's a UEFA/CONMEBOL Championship

Well that, and it isn't like we didn't know that was part of the plan all along.

So part of that needs to be Pulisic not trying to make those attacks because as soon as he takes a bad touch he will get cleaned out by a bad tackle.

I'd figured he'd left the cards in the locker room and would pick them up at halftime . . . guess he forgot again. . .
