sorry for my poor English on that one. I originally said "which would be going..." then wanted to change it to "which is going..." but I mis-edited. - SJJ
Last match today , Suriname will qualify if they dont lose to Bermuda today. http://www.futbol24.com/internation...ualifiers/2010-2011/Caribbean-Play-off-Group/
after 70 minutes it looks like that Suriname will qualify. At this moment Suriname (3) vs. Bermuda (1)
I missread on the Barbuda FA site: http://www.bermudafa.com/home/494853.html The thirth "goal" for Suriname was only a chance. The match ended in a 2-1 win for Suriname. They qualify for Guatemala.
question for the Surinamese and Guadeloupeans... for the upcoming U-20 WCQ will Suriname call-up any Dutch based Surinam youth. or is that also not allowed?? Did Suriname even use Dutch based players for the WCQ? and for Guadeloupe.. did they use any French based players?? or no. and will they for the U-20 wcq?
Suriname never in history used any Dutch players from Surinamese origin, because these players only have the Dutch nationality and passport. Suriname government does not allow dual citizenship, so when players want to get eligible to play for the representative teams they have to live (a few years) in Suriname. All the players we use in the U-20 WCQ and WCQ are from the Surinamese amateur leagues. There is no money for professional football. But there is hope! The legal department of FIFA is currently examining a convention between the Republic of Suriname and The Netherlands, which in this matter maybe contain the rights for players to be eligible. It's a complex issue..I expect results next month..
Catracho_Azul, I don't know about Guadelope but Suriname has never used any Dutch based players from Surinamese origin in history,so my country will never survive against the heavy powerfull countries like USA and Panama.Suriname still doesn't allow dual citizenship,so our federation doesn't have any choise to use local based players. Thank you for asking
Rai-G,i hope the SVB has done their homework and i also hope for a positive answer from the FIFA next month. We have waited too long.
For the qualifying phase, Guadeloupe had called two outside players (one playing in France and one in England) but they hadn't been released by their club. For the tournment in Guatemala, we rely of course on external inputs but it depends on the availability of players. And for sure, if fortunately we qualify for Colombia, we'll get more outside players because the World Cup is schedules during the long school holidays.
That's encouraging. Out of curiousity, how extensive is the talent pool of dutch players with surinamese ancestry? We all know the big names but who are the players that would likely turn out for Suriname if an allowance is made?
There are a lot of players, I think there are over 200 players with surinamese ancestry. for my blog I made 4 lists with players: Goalkeepers: http://natiosuriname.blogspot.com/2009/11/inventarisatie-suriprof-keepers.html Defenders: http://natiosuriname.blogspot.com/2009/11/inventarisatie-suriprof-verdedigers.html Midfielders: http://natiosuriname.blogspot.com/2009/12/inventarisatie-suriprof-middenvelders.html Forwards: http://natiosuriname.blogspot.com/2009/12/inventarisatie-suriprof-aanvallers.html
