Australia made their expected commanding start with a comfortable 3-0 win against Scotland. The Scottish girls battled bravely for the first 25 minutes with Tracey Robb outstanding in their goal, but they could not match the firepower of the reigning Commonwealth and Olympic champions. Katrina Powell, Brooke Morrison and Julie Towers scored the goals as the Aussies demonstrated their reputation for having an eye for goal. Rhona Simpson missed an early chance for Scotland and Powell (AUS) promptly punished them for it when she turned in the first goal from Angie Skirving’s right-wing cross in the 28th minute. http://www.commonwealthgames.com/SPORTS/Hockey/News/default.asp?id=517&folder=Hockey
