The final whistle at Ewood has just gone and Wigan have relegated Blackburn by winning 1 -0.

Offering genuine commisserations and looking forward to welcoming you guys to the Valley next season. We're heading into the Championship from the other end, and in happier circumstances so both our teams have a new challenge to face next season.

Charlton vs Blackburn matches have thrown up some classic encounters in the past. in the 1950s, you guys robbed us of a chance to return to the first division at the first attempt by winning at the Valley on the last day of the season. In the 80s, you nicked the Full Members Cup with a last gasp goal at Wembley. On the other hand, when you were a top premiership team in the 90s and we were a second tier team, we knocked you out of the FA Cup at Ewood. In my mind, that counted as a giant killing.

So, we've got a history in our encounters, and perhaps the Gods of football will throw a "classic" our way next season when we meet. Whatever...

So, drown your sorrows tonight, go away and lick your wounds and come back next season, ready to go again. Who knows... perhaps we may both go up. Believe.

    Regards
