Please. You're driving spejic crazy mit dat dialect. If you continue, we will have to tighten up his straitjacket.
Levesque isn't traveling is he? Why don't they just release the poor guy and let him catch on with any of the other 11 teams he's good enough to play for?
Levesque is not even with the team, much less travelling. He's up in Seattle with the Sounders. As for releasing him, why should they? He's still a developmental player, which means he's very cheap, and he's getting a chance to play and develop with Seattle. Maybe he'll be ready (in Dom's eyes, or whoever the coach is next year's eyes) next year, clearly Dom doesn't think he's ready now. Dom has said several times he has no plans to recall him this year, he wants Roger to get playing time (which he would not get if he came back to San Jose). We can all disagree, but we haven't seen Roger practice with the team, so it's really hard to know the situation. The only way I'd expect to see Roger back with the team before October (when Seattle's season is over) is if we have another forward go down with an injury.
The guy is 24 years old, a little bit long in the tooth to still be developing. So I'd say either bring him back and try him out or release him and make room for a younger player on the developmental players list. If he hasn't made it even to the bench at the age of 24 what is he gonna achieve?
3-5-2 please. I'd go: -------Cerritos-----Moreno Mullen -- Chung -- Russell O'Rourke Clark Barret Cochrane Gray Let Mullen, Chung and Russel swap around. Sub in Nash for Moreno, Hart for Russel or Mullen. If Cochrane's at real risk, put Hart on the right and Gray in the middle. We'd be okay with RicO'Rourke sitting in front of him.
"Quakes visit dreaded Crew Stadium" (Friday, 7/8/05) Mark Chung and the Quakes look for a result in Columbus. (Scott Wambsganss/MLS/WireImage.com) Mark Chung and the San Jose Earthquakes visit the Crew on Saturday. (Scott Wambsganss/MLS/WireImage.com) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I think it is pretty standard for teams to do well when they score first. Instead, check out the Quake's record this season when they don't score first - they only lost half of such games.
http://quakemagic.matchnight.com/qmdefault.cfm?page=ARTICLE&show=563 don't think this was posted. They have Eddie starting with Hart
Understand, I'm not making a rational critique. I'm just a big fan of Roger from his college days. He was absolutely electric to watch, the best player on one of the country's best teams. I just want to see the man play. I know he may be good trade bait, but he's also a great young American player, seemingly wasting away his youth. I had hoped to see him tested with the big team by now. So this is just my emotional response: If he's not getting called in now, will he ever?
I'm not sure about bringing Eddie back. I would rather have him sit out one game than rush him and possibly risk further injury. What really stands out to me in the article is that Ian Russell isn't even on the bench. It looks like Wondolowski has passed him on the depth chart.
Subs: Conway, Cochrane, Wondolowski, Aloisi, Nash Wondolowski is the only midfielder on the bench. I guess, he will some minutes on the field.
how accurate is this?.. i read earlier (forget the source) he was not starting.. or even being listed as a sub not so sure I like this move at all
Which is interesting b/c I remember reading from some posters who attended reserve games that Russell was actually doing quite well, on his way back to 2001 form. But I guess Wondolowski has been doing even better in the reserve games.
