I know. Three nationally televised matches. Who's on? Atlanta, DC, both NY clubs and both LA clubs. Because people haven't had enough of a chance to watch those teams lately.
Beer is a acquired taste not consumed for best tasting beverage sure because a nAtional audience wants to watch two last place teams instead of clubs at the top of the standings
I'm used to seeing us Midwestern yokels spelling the name of the country "Columbia," which is bad enough. But at least it's a legit word in English. Dumbasses.
I get that, but anytime there's a Cascadia matchup, or a NY/NY matchup, they all wax poetic about how exciting these rivalry matches are. First ever edition of one of those rivalries? Nah. Who cares. And they didn't know it was going to be two crappy teams when they made the schedule. They DID know it was #HellIsReal v1.
I think the argument is, how many people who might see these matches on, say, a bar TV, have any idea who's where in the MLS standings? What MLS should want to do it put on TV a product that looks great, because the stands are full, the fans are rocking, the pitch is beautiful, etc. Sans the pitch, it's one of the reasons why Portland games are so compelling on TV. Plus, Atlanta is on national TV 17 times this season. Talk about overkill.
Good to see I'm not losing my mind. I thought I saw that, but it happened so quickly I thought my brain was just playing tricks on me.
I, for one, anticipate the day when I can brag to my grandchildren that I attended the first ever Colombus-Cincinnoti match.
Just wandered over to the FCC HIR thread and there is one guy posting in it. Do we know how many people are making the long, sad drive up 71?
I think a lot of us make it a point to watch bottom-3 EPL teams after Christmas. There's plenty of intrigue in Hell is Real... Arguably a bit more than seeing 5th place DC against 5th place LAG. Is the cinci leg getting a national broadcast? Also, I have to remind myself we're still living under the vestages of Precourt's neglect. I dunno what kind of role our new owners had in broadcasting talks. HELL ALMOST WASN'T REAL GUYS.
None. Haslams took over a shell of an organization and had little if any influence on things like schedules and TV. Those decisions were made while Queso the Hutt was in charge. Solution? Win tomorrow.
That said, the rivalry is nicely set up by playing them home and away two weeks apart. A rare tip of the hat to the schedule maker on that one....
But Ibrahimovic and Rooney get ratings more than we ever could . We need to sign a marquee player if we want to be taken seriously. Outside of Ohio nobody gives a shit about this Game sell out or not take off the Homer glasses . Personally I’m excited and I’ll be there it will be a great atmosphere but I was born in Columbus and Have family in Cincinnati
