Hey I am not disagreeing with you on that. I have to regularly take connecting flights just to see family whether here or in Latin America.

But the United States is home to various groups and it's not just those actually living in those countries that will be making the trip. Especially with a good chunk of us here actually living in the US.

Also, didn't it recently become a thing for Colombians to visit the United States easier if they have a relative who is a citizen?

I agree to an extent, but we now have 16 straight matches unbeaten which is pretty impressive.

Not counting those unofficial friendlies right?

Yeah, counting 9 friendlies. It's kind of difficult to rack up those numbers without counting the friendlies, since we have only played 5 official matches in the last two calendar years. Another caveat is that that number includes two wins from the previous cycle (Bolivia and Venezuela from 22 WCQ). You want more stats?

11 wins (or 9 in this cycle)
    5 draws
26 goals for (or 22 this cycle)
    8 against

I would love to face Spain given that they're the nation's league champions and are in excellent form.

we haven't played them in a really long time, of course I always think of Pablo Armero's crazy run on the left which somehow ended up with him 1 on 1 with the GK and then of course he sends his shot right at the sky

of course id have to assume they'd probably end our undefeated streak

Possibly. Although I will say that they haven't really dominated the more stronger European nations and I believe our friendly would be competitive; I don't think it'll be one sided for either side if it doesn't end in a draw.

Honestly that Germany wasn't in good form so it's hard for me to take that win as seriously as we could. Now they do have the players despite losing to Turkey but I do think that these wins we are getting are bringing a very postive mindset to the Colombians.

Germany is Germany , just like Brazil is Brazil. There’s a lot of people down playing those wins but sheesh we def came a long way and we def not a stable team per se .

they lost today again to Austria, they've won like 2 games out of the past 13 or something, they beat the US and France and have lost or drawn to everyone else

Well there's no argument on the Brazilian side considering how they've been even without Neymar when they faced us. Their talent pool gives them technically no excuses aside from us being the better team that night.

So honestly being undefeated in the qualifiers and being in the position that we find ourselves in is quite appealing.

And yeah I do remember complaining about us not getting more qualifiers until the end of 2024. Now with the Copa America around next year and friendlies at the beginning, how do we approach from here?

The results verified that we will pay the cost if we don't secure games by making chances count.

Also remember when people were saying that Lorenzo was relying on the old guys? So far he has removed Barrios, Falcao, Cuadrado, JGQ, Cardona, Borja, Duvan Zapata and Muriel

Meh. Falcao, Cardona and Borja have not been at NT level for quite a while. Cuadrado, Zapata and Muriel spend more time on the injured list than on the pitch, and we know than as soon as JGC is half-healthy he'll be the starter. The only one that he has really opted not to use is Barrios, which given Uribe's level and Lerma's tendency to be more of an 8 was quite puzzling, until he found Castaño.

exactly, this 'moving on' wasn't Lorenzo's genius thinking in the making.

No way Castano stays in Mexico. Cruz Azul paid about $4m for a 4 year contract. That's a steal. His confidence in the last few matches has showed that he has so much composure and maturity at a young age. The guy is always at the right place at the right time and with Lerma's support he was able to offer that 3rd pass we've been looking for. Really impressive.

One more kudos/shout out has to go to another Mexican league player. Vargas has been so solid in the back. We have a GK folks!

Not so sure. Barrios was a dominant player for Boca, arguably in a league that has more appeal to European clubs, yet he ended up in Russia. I’d love to see Kevin in Italy or Spain, but chances are it’s not going to happen.
