So apparently FIFA WON'T announce their choice officially until AFTER the South America V Asia playoff match; like a day after that match and Monday is the deadline for Ecaudor.

This can get pretty complex unless FIFA is 100% only gonna consider simply removing the points from Ecaudor and not out right disqualify them which it's looking like.

If they do it after the playofff, doesn't it basically mean that they won't sanction Ecuador?

I think Ecuador will go and they’ll just punish the player

Wait now I am seeing different reports:

Apparently it won't be after the South American vs Asia playoff match but in reality on the 10th of June that FIFA will announce their decision. 4 days before the playoff match; if this somehow changes us to playoff spot then they would likely delay the playoff match due to this change.

I hate to be that guy but even if Chile wins the case it would only shoot them above us. Peru remains in 5th no matter what apparently.

Personally I hope Ecuador gets disqualified and they sent Peru and AUS/UAE directly to the World Cup to give Chile a kick in the face :D

The only hope is that they find Ecuador's handling so egregious they outright eliminate them (not just those games). Agreed...

    It's slim.

Yeah but since Peru was invited they're clearly given a chance; they could get Ecaudor simply eliminated and give Peru the spot up to direct qualification (realistically Peru rather be stress-free and not have to deal with a playoff spot) which would let us move up to the playoff spot.

Again this is if FIFA completely vaccants Ecaudor's spot entirely.

haha unless the spot is given to Colombia (which isn’t the way I want us to qualify)

then would be funny if they just gave it to Asia tho they might sanction an Asian team too so will be interesting to see what happens.

you can’t just take their points from 8 games. That changes everything and Paraguay at that point had the chance.

nothing is going to happen or maybe they punish the player for a few games. So much false hope…..

So they were gonna wait until the 14th originally before realizing that the 10th made more sense for their choice.

Reading the article, I thinks its more so either Chile or Ecuador can file and have their appeal heard prior to the playoff as both will undoubtedly appeal.

I really don't understand Ecuador's defense here? If they had paperwork proving their innocence why not make it public? They are espousing huge confidence that they will win but the only reason that this is going to court is that they were unable to clarify the matter (such should be cut and dry) sufficiently...

Watching Germany - Italy. It's remarkable how much more simple they make the game seem because of how players play into and run into space. Just so much less stop and look around going on this game than we are used to.

That's coaching and having a system of play. We never had either with Rueda.

Look maybe we will get that magical second chance but again depends how well Peru tries to convince FIFA to simply disqualify Ecuador but I am honestly prepared for if we don't get this and Chile is the one who benefits from it.

    that isn’t happening

so many Chileans and Colombians hoping to something that won’t happen and has never happened.

unless Ecuador attacks Colombia they aren’t getting banned from the wc

Mexico got banned from the 1990
WC for using over age players in the under 20’s.

only reason to side with Chile/Colombia is money…..

chile has no good players coming up. Ecuador has a more exciting roster.

So are you really going to fk over Ecuador to let Luis Diaz go to the WC?

estipuin of Villarreal and the kid from Brighton are very exciting prospects.

Didn't Peru just qualify for the WC in 2018 based on a decision of off field stuff like this?

That was just the last cycle.

I'm not saying we get in, but there is a decent chance Chile does.

We've honestly been very quiet/passive. Nothing I've heard even in rumors getting involved with this.

Then again, we could pull a WWE and pull a money in the bank briefcase very last second.

    I think that was 1-2 games….

this is 8 games to take points from 1 team and like 5 months after they qualified….. that seems very very different

Think about what you are saying.

They intervened over 1-2 games. If this impacts eight that is almost half the qualifiers, it's more egregious.
