wasn’t he part of the 02,06,10 failures too?

I mean this is def the best team we ever had and didn’t qualify.

02,06 we just had really bad mfs and Strikers. Defense and gk great.

2010 it was bad coaching and not trusting the youth

2022 is all down to brining the wrong coach twice and firing a guy who took us to two world cups like a dog without having a better replacement. One that would make us play better.

regardless of how those results went. Our team was very offensive. The coaching change made us play defensively.

one would have hoped Rueda fixed things but my god he made it worse

they still had a chance to fire Rueda and bring someone new In or Pekerman man back.

I would have sent Rueda to the u20. Or make him Pekerman assistant if he wasn’t willing to quit

I blame this failure on the directors and then on the players.

in no universe should Peru ever qualify over us.

now their idea of stealing Peru or Ecuador coaches is why they should be fired as that’s not the best course of action either

Is it true that this would benefit Chile rather than Colombia?

I don’t think they would lose their spot.

also chile has 19 points. Unless that player only played against chile they get 4 more points. FIFA usually gives 3-0 wins so chile leap frogs us on point difference.

neither chile nor Colombia will go to the wc and they shouldn’t at this point any administration errors or issues with the doping organization will just be a fine.

this is just giving people hope where there isn’t any.

I don’t see any place mentioning this

ESPN, goal, I thought it was an April fools joke.

I heard 2-3 reasons why Ecuador won’t go to the WC. The one I heard was something about the doping administration from their country not having funding or something.

Think I read a different one than the potentially Colombian player.

it’s just too late to knock them out.

or do you guys no remember the some Asian team can’t go so they would let Italy join the WC instead which makes 0 sense

I checked his stats and he played 8 games, 2 against Chile and none against Colombia. I find it odd that this surfaces after the qualifiers were done, and I think is just some red meat to keep the clicks going.

Unless FIFA outright disqualifies Ecuador's spot, we won't benefit for even the playoff spot.

It's not my place to say that they or Chile should or should not go to the world cup as much as I want us to go...

Wait this dude played in 8 qualifiers for Ecuador?

With those amount of games, FIFA could possibly just disqualify them entirely since he played so much but again this could just be a hoax...in fact I recall a few years ago that he was rumored to he Colombian until in Ecuador they claimed that he was Ecuadorian.

Imagine FIFA trolls Chile and straight up disqualifies Ecuador rather than just have them automatically lose the games that he was in...that was a lot of matches.

Peru would like to eliminate one of their rivals...

Would Peru be the one to get direct qualification or would that be Chile?

Ecuador will lost a total of 14 points for using Byron Castillo, if FIFA deems it so.

Now assuming this is processed by FIFA, and FIFA doesn't leave that slot vacant and reward the points to the teams that played against Ecuador with Byron Castillo.

That leaves Ecuador with 12 points

Tables would roughly look like this

    1.Brasil 45pts
    2.Argentina 42pts
    3.Uruguay 28pts
    4.Chile 25pts (GD -1) (+6pts)
    5.Peru 24pts
    6.Colombia 23pts
    7.Paraguay 19pts
    8.Bolivia 18pts
    9.Ecuador 12pts(-14pts)
    10.Venezuela 10pts

Either way Colombia is still out lol

No Peru wants Ecuador thrown out so that they can move up to 4th and in theory us 5th maybe
