    Disagree with you slightly....

I would put Chile in the same level as Colombia, Uruguay, US and Mex....

Ecuador ahead of Venezuela and probably tied with Costa Rica...

Peru and Bolivia below (or on par with) a couple of Central America teams (Honduras, Panama maybe?)

Other than that I agree with your 1st and 2nd level teams.

When the US plays Mexico in the US is hard to say which one is the home team..... Mexico plays plenty of friendlies in the US, hardly an away setup

ese torneo no tiene nada que ver con FIFA ranks - que es para selecciones de mayores UNICAmente.

i believe that those 2 loses were already counted... as they are on the fifa website

but we will most likely go down because the teams at euro will go up but alot of teams will go down also who didnt make it and dont have friendlies

    like england (9), Scotland (14), Bulgaria (16)

also 2 of Italy(3) or France (7) or Romania (12) will go home early from Euro

Also dont see Greece (8) doing very well either....

next month will be a huge mix up in the rankings as long as we win both games we should be fine

but again these rankings dont matter but I hope we stay in the top 20 so EA puts us in the next fifa

for some reason we went dow 5 spots.........

what I dont get is how argentina beats Mexico 4-1, ties 3 games against USA(was low 20s, Brazil was #2, and Ecuador) and went down to like 8th place..... Brazil loses to fing Venezulea, ties Argentina and their other game and go down 2 spots....

Fifa rankings are retarded especially how euros went up

easy cdzloko....games in euro2008, were more class A games
what argentina did in USA (2 game...hardly counts)

then two ties as Colombia did, does not help, in class A type of games!

germany and turkey are probably way up, right?

yea both were ahead of us tho .... but how did england and isreal who didnt play go up????

Colombia tied which is not bad, but what killed was not destroying Peru as that what cause uruguay to sky rocket up the charts

No, that is just part of why Uruguay went up. The other reason is that in June 2004 they lost with Colombia 5-0 remember? Well that score is out now since is more that 4 years now, You must take in consideration the new scores taken in, and the old june 2004 scores taken off.

For me the FIFA ranking is starting to take hold and make sense. People tend to judge these NT based on emotion and not what the statistics say. That being said I don't think Argentina was worthy of the #1 spot. Top 5 maybe, but not #1.

again Pepe. It's statistics based. Not biased. Personally do I think Paraguay is playing better then Colombia. Yes. But let's look at it objectively. The WC is the ultimate competition. Paraguay has done so in the last 3. Colombia 98' was their last participation. But again NT competition is NT competiton. Paraguay hasnt favored well in Copa Americas and firendlies. That has to count. When you the account the last 3 World cups qualifying campaign- 98', '02 and '06 plus the current '10, we have:

In 98 Paraguay + Colombia classify with 29 pts + 28 pts respectively
In 02 Par classifies with 30 and Colombia misses with 27 pts
In 06 Par classifies with 28 and Colombia misses with 24 pts
Current Par with 13 pts and Colombia with 10 pts

So the differences have been minor but enough for Colombia to miss out on tha last 2 WCs. Fair enough Paraguay should win some heavy points for this wcq process. And they do.

    So we next weight out
    Copa America 99, 01, 04, 07

    99'
    Paraguay(host) - Eliminated in QF
    Col - Eliminated in QF

    01'
Paraguay - Eliminated in 1st Rd
Col (host)- Champion - 1st place

    '04
    Paraguay - Eliminated QF
    Col - Eliminated in Semis

    '07
    Paraguay - Eliminated in QF
Col - Eliminated in 1st Rd

So now based on the same timeline, Colombia has a slight edge.

Colombia has also done better in friendlies during the same period. So where they edge us out with WC appearences in the last 2, we edge out when you combine CA and friendlies and why the 2 teams are so close. They (Paraguay) are playing the best football in all of CONMEBOL and all teams right now are 'por de bajo' of Paraguay. Some more then others.

love the analysis, but luisFr44, we can not include copa america 2001 or Wc 02

the fifa ranks results for the last 4yrs only..
the paraguay place sounds as a very temp. place in the standings and soon colombia should be one or 2 places below. Rightfully at last

    trust the system!

I know that efer. I just wanted to do an analysis as to why Colombia has been better in the FIFA rankings for the last couple of years. Even if you start from 2004 on, then we're still about on par when you look at the stats.
