The first act of petrachi is getting overruled on managerial choice.

I'm personally happy Fonseca was appointed manager over Petrachi's miha fascination, but damn if this doesn't have disaster written all over it lol.

Granted, this is all dependent upon the reporting being accurate regarding which heirarchy figure preferred which candidate.

Its a big problem if there is division in hierarchy, and how it will translate to what players we sign that fit Fonseca style. If everyone has sthg in his mind, and too many vocices in the club its bound to disaster.

I sort of feel Fonseca got the job by default after every other manager said no. It seemed to me that in the end the only 2 guys that would accept it were Fonseca and De Zerbi

Still, we could've have many of those who declined, for the right price. In my opinion it was more a matter of who's the best option for the cheapest than anything else.

I'm fine with him, mainly due to everyone else being a known underwhelming commodity. Can't be worse than Gattusso, right?

When I see a picture of him in a Roma shirt, then I will believe it. But it is a great move for us in the end.

Can we please, just please, give the man the players that fit his system. We haven't got this right since the Americans took over.

:D..Lets see. Petrachi's job is to buy players that suit the managers system. It shouldn't matter what system as he should know the game inside out...Well thats the theory but hey, its Roma so we go ahead on a wing and a prayer.

Look at that god-tier hairline. Happy to see less and less bald frauds involved with this team.

How quick before he's gray and thinning? I'll give it 2 draws and he reads Mortys thoughts on that.

Not really tbh. His main job is to acquire players in accordance with our team's strategy for long-term success in and out of the pitch( which for us means qualifying as often for CL as possible while the club isn't losing money after it's all said and done). If a player is both suited to our spending strategy and the coach's wishes, then that's a bonus, but we've never gone out of our way to satisfy a coach with more than one, maybe two 15mil. signings per season and only when those made financial sense too.

I don't expect anything different this time around, because while the DS and the coach are different, ultimately they still have to serve the same boss that all those before them did, and Pallottta not being ready to change his strategy is what has kept us locked out of more proven coaches so far, so there aren't any indications of our goals changing with or without Fonseca at the tiller.

We're are just that type of club hate it or like it.

The main thing that drives us forwards or backwards are how good the DS and coach are in dealing with those limitations/circumstances day in and day out.

Yes and meeting goals should go hand in hand with the DS buying players to suit the managers style of play. You now, buying a right winger for the right wing and not trying to make 2 center forwards work.

The clubs long term success (qualifying for the champions league) should mean giving the manager players that suit his philosophy in order to achieve it. I dont care who the names are, just put a team on the pitch that functions and gives this manager the best chance.

    No no no no!

We love em those bargain 30mil. forwards that will eventually explode and turn into their weight in gold. Iturbe and Schick say hello!

I agree with only one slight modification. The DS needs to buy players for his system and hire coaches that fit that system. Otherwise you end up having to try to rebuild you squad every time you get a new coach.

Overall I agree... stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole and expect results.

Reminds me of Roma's movements 1 to 1, except we're doing them towards our own goal.
