Agreed Unkiemark, but as Rapids fans, two wins in a row, one on the road against a good team, makes us nearly wet ourselves, so we need to overreact to SOMETHING....
Totally understand. There are member of my family that are already wondering if the Casey is the answer.
The great (in his own mind) Eric Wynalda led his team to a loss against an amateur side in the Open Cup last night. Meanwhile Las Vegas is a middle of the pack team in the USL so far this year. Not doing much to show he deserves a MLS job.
Details are fuzzy with the passage of time but I remember getting his autograph at the Team of the Decade post match event (at 10 years in the league so 2006?) and he said when I thanked him "I always enjoy coming back to Colorado". IIRC he was in L.A. at the time and certainly could have taken a pass on the event -- so it seemed to ring true?
Backpass: Is Colorado Rapids interim coach Conor Casey a genius? https://t.co/czPG7UmKZ1— Denver Post Rapids (@rapidsnews) June 1, 2019
Compared to Hudson he is a god. Compared to Houghton a genius... compared to Gary Smith ... uhhh well you get the picture.

Reviewing the Rapids not-so-prestigious "Hall of Coaches" it is clear that if Casey continues to perform at 1.5+/game, PS would be nuts to let him go and hire a so-called hot young assistant elsewhere.
Then Frasier better close his deal quick or risk having an offer pulled. Hopefully CC will stay on as right hand assistant. Rod
He's a Genius at not losing most every game he coaches. He's a fan of Klopp's style of coaching. He seems positive with the players. Locker room mood *must* be better under him. He's now leading the Rapids in a hot streak. He's still not the answer after Hudson however. Rapids have had "hot young hires" (read "inexperienced coaches") since Oscar Pareja. Pablo and Hudson were obvious bad choices, OP can be argued as such, though IMHO he had enough experience to be given a fair shot. I suppose the more Casey wins and draws the more enticing he looks, but the context of a team desperate for wins, an underperforming roster, and a bad coach fired should not be ignored. A halfway competent coach could have brought the Rapids up to a level of reasonable expectations. I like Casey and I think he could be a good coach. But he doesn't deserve the reins of a MLS club at this point. Experience, please. Period. Fraser isn't MLS head-coach proven, but he's got plenty to go on. I've run another extended absence from BS-Rapids recently, but are some people here still treating Wynalda as if he's a viable option for Rapids HC? Rehire Pablo instead if Wynalda is an actual consideration.
He does have 2 years as head coach of Chivas USA, which is more club head coach experience than any Rapids coach since Clavijo.
Boy you wanna talk about a dumpster fire? They were the epitome of the mls dumpster fire. Interestingly enough, Greg Vanney was an assistant there...and Bob Bradley (LAFC) and Wilmer Cabrera (Houston) were head coaches. Maybe that bodes well for Fraser after all lol
Another way to do the Casey v. Hudson comparison. If Casey isn't yet MLS head coach material, just what exactly was Hudson?????* Casey may not be ready for a fulltime gig yet, but his performance so far certainly will make him hot assistant coaching property. His stock has gone way up with the dramatic turnaround from on pace to be the worst team in league history to being at least a respectable opponent. He's shown a few things. First, he can assess talent. Second, he gets it on MLS tactics. Third, he has the respect of the players. Those qualities will take him far. Maybe most importantly, Casey has stopped the bleeding. The team's current form may well be more enticing to a coaching prospect that the unfulfilled hype with the record under Hudson. *My vote would be Kiwi rec league material, but hey.
With the turnaround in the Rapids, think how much this is dropping Mr Hudson's stock these days as he presumably seeks a new gig.... Yes, it's schaudenfreude and I will rot in hell, but I am willing to take the risk.
Small sample size. If he loses next week that average will drop to 1.42. A 3 game losing streak would put him at 1.00.
As a Rapid fan, I only get brief periods of success or optimism. Please wait to rain on my parade.....⚽️ R
