FCNY posted this on twitter a couple of mins ago FCNYSoccer F.C. New York We are close to selling out Belson for our opener on Saturday..ensure your spot today: tickets@fcnewyorksoccer.com (866) 827-0154 If true that is awesome.
Hope they get SRO and a win. That would be great for them. Maybe some of the St. John's kids will start a supporters area.
I know here at Blackbaud they will sell standing room only after capacity has been reached (5100 here) Will they do something similar up there and have an "over capacity" (not sure if that is the term) crowd? anyhow, good luck guys!
Very good news. So, if they consistently sell out Belson, do you think they'll move somewhere bigger, like Shuart Stadium at Hofstra? Ever think you might be pulling some of the anti-Pink Cow crowd that also is hoping for the Cosmos?
Personally.. I'll believe it when I see it, but if they are close to a sellout I will be over the moon. Lets get 1 good crowd for the opener before talking about consistantly selling out Belson. Remember this is all based on a twitter/faceboook comment that may be just fluff. But Theoretically,,,I would probably drop my season tickets if they did move out to Hofstra, mainly because it would take away the biggest 2 selling points of the team for me. 1 be in NYC, and 2. Be 10 mins from my house. I think instead of being backlash against Energy Drink, (and once again if true) I feel it's more a case of proving the point that people have made for years that Energy Drink FC has absolutely no market penetration on this side of the Hudson. But
As for my Hofstra idea, I'm just floating ideas for holding larger crowds. Are there other ideas for holding larger FCNY crowds that are within the city proper? Would there be any larger locations in Queens? Or am I just thinking too big too fast?
I'd love to be there, but I'm riding the 5 Boro bike ride tomorrow morning, and just can't bring myself to make a couple 2 hour trips in and out of the city (coming from the burbs) in the space of 12 hours or so. As for the "close to a sellout" claim, here's where we find off right away how much credibility this organization has.
Just called the ticket office (the St. John's one, not the FCNY one) and was told that there are less than 300 tickets left.
And when I went to the ticket office once it opened, the stack of tickets for walk ups looked like less than 20. Looks like a good crowd will be coming.
If I can remember correctly (stayed out at my local until 5ish) they announced the attendence at 2011. judging from my eye to looked more accurate than most Metro announced attendences I used to see at GS.
How was everything? Pics? Team? Goals? Fanbase (e.g. soccer moms, LI friends of Dougie, locals, wanna-be hooligans).
I had a good time. didn't bring a camera You can tell this team is new and I think they will improve as they play together. 1st Orlando goal was just bad defense and lack of communication at the back ( no shock considering the Keeper has only been with the team a couple days) 2nd Orlando goal was a low hit freekick around the wall. NY Goal was a nice little chip from Owen Morrison. Seemed to be alot of families at the game ( which forced me to cut some songs short as I realised they had some non-child friendly lyrics) .
The second goal was just awesome. Total class in finishing. Next game if we sit on the other side we might actually get to sing what we really want without so many kids around.
If you can only support by swearing then you need to be a little more creative. That said, I prefer to curse.
